When will CalFresh emergency allotments hit in March 2025? Still getting extra benefits?
Does anyone know when we're supposed to get the extra CalFresh benefits for March? My regular benefits loaded on the 10th like always, but I thought there was supposed to be additional emergency allotments this month because of the flooding in Northern California. My cousin in Sacramento said her caseworker told her everyone would get something extra, but nothing has shown up on my EBT card yet. I've got 3 kids and we're really counting on that extra help this month. Are they still doing emergency allotments in 2025? And if yes, when do they usually hit our cards?

There aren't any more statewide emergency allotments for CalFresh in 2025. Those ended back in 2023 after the COVID public health emergency was discontinued. What your cousin might be referring to is the Disaster CalFresh (D-CalFresh) that becomes available in counties that have been declared disaster areas after major events like flooding. But this is different from the old pandemic emergency allotments. If you live in one of the 11 counties affected by the recent floods and have been approved for D-CalFresh, those benefits usually load within 3 days of approval. They don't come automatically to all CalFresh recipients, though - you have to specifically apply for D-CalFresh during the application period (usually a 7-day window after the disaster is declared). If you haven't applied for D-CalFresh yet and you had flood-related expenses or income loss, you should contact your county office immediately to see if you're eligible and if the application period is still open.

•Oh no, I had no idea! I thought it was automatic like during COVID. I'm in Yuba County and we definitely had flooding damage. Our apartment complex had water in the first floor units (thankfully we're on the second floor) but our car got water damage and I missed 4 days of work because roads were closed. Is that the kind of thing that qualifies? How do I apply for the disaster benefits?

the regular day for calfrsh is based on the first letter of ur last name, mine comes on the 6th cause my last name starts with D, maybe ur cousins is on a different day than urs? but ya the emergency extras from covid are gone for good

•I know about the regular issuance schedule - I get mine on the 10th every month. I was specifically asking about disaster assistance because of the flooding, not the COVID extras.

Just to clarify some misinformation - Disaster CalFresh (D-CalFresh) benefits for the March flooding would need to be applied for separately at your county office during the designated application period. This isn't automatic and isn't related to your regular monthly benefits. For D-CalFresh eligibility, you typically need to show: 1) You lived or worked in the disaster area 2) You experienced disaster-related expenses or income loss 3) You aren't already receiving the maximum CalFresh benefit for your household size Based on what you described (missed work days, car damage), you might qualify. You need to contact your Yuba County office ASAP as D-CalFresh application periods are usually only open for 7 days after the disaster declaration.

•Thank you for explaining! Do you know if they'll be open Saturday? I work double shifts Thursday and Friday and can't miss more work after already missing days from the flooding. Also, what documentation do I need to bring? I have pictures of my car damage and a note from my boss about the missed days.

OMG calling about this was a NIGHTMARE!!!! i tried calling yuba county all day yesterday and kept getting disconnected after waiting 45+ mins. finally found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me through to a real person in like 15 minutes instead of waiting forever. they have this demo video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 anyway, once i got through, the worker told me the disaster calfresh is a one-time payment based on household size, not your regular monthly amount. for a household of 4 people you'd get like $990 as a one-time payment if you qualify. and they said the benefits usually load 3 days after approval.

•Thanks for the tip! At this point I'll try anything to get through. I called this morning and was on hold for an hour before I had to hang up to get my kids to school.

Just be careful about the income limits for D-CalFresh! They are higher than regular CalFresh, but there's still a limit. Your GROSS income plus accessible cash resources (minus disaster expenses) for the disaster benefit period needs to be under the D-CalFresh limit. So if you have a lot in savings, that could count against you. The caseworker will look at your available resources during the disaster period (March 1-31) and subtract verified disaster-related expenses. And make SURE you have documentation! Take ALL of this to your appointment: - ID for everyone in household - Proof of residence (utility bill, lease) - Proof of lost income (letter from employer about missed days) - Receipts or estimates for disaster-related expenses (car repair estimates) - Bank statements showing your resources I've seen people get denied because they didn't bring enough documentation. The interview process is actually pretty fast if you have everything ready.

•This is really helpful, thank you! Our savings account has less than $500 in it so I don't think that will be a problem. I'll get all this documentation together before going in. Sounds like I should try to go on Saturday when hopefully it's less busy.

One more thing to know - if you're approved for D-CalFresh, the benefits will be added to your existing EBT card, but they might show up as a separate deposit. So check your EBT account online or call the EBT customer service line to see your balance and transaction history. The D-CalFresh benefits would typically appear within 72 hours of approval with a different transaction name than your regular monthly benefits.

•Good to know! I'll keep checking my EBT account online after I apply. Fingers crossed this comes through for us - it would really help with restocking our fridge and replacing stuff we lost during the power outages.

I went through this last year during the coastal flooding disaster. The D-CalFresh benefit was substantial for my family of 5 ($1,100+) but the application process was STRICT. They denied my neighbor because she couldn't prove income loss - it wasn't enough that she had expenses. Make sure you document EVERYTHING and be very specific about dates. Also, the benefit amount is based on household size, not your income or regular CalFresh amount. And heads up - they will ask if you received any other disaster assistance (like FEMA) because that might affect your eligibility. Good luck!

•Thanks for sharing your experience! I haven't applied for any other assistance yet, but that's good to know. I've started gathering all my documentation and will make sure to be very specific about the dates I missed work.
