No PEBT 3.0 payment yet - has anyone actually received theirs in 2025?
I've been checking my EBT card balance for weeks now and still haven't received the PEBT 3.0 payment that was supposed to be distributed in February/March. My kids definitely qualify - they're on free lunch at school and we get CalFresh. The school district said all the paperwork was submitted correctly. I've tried calling the PEBT hotline THREE times but keep getting disconnected after waiting for over an hour. Has anyone actually received their PEBT 3.0 payment yet? I'm starting to wonder if they're even sending them out at all. My neighbor said she got hers, but I'm not sure I believe her honestly...

•Exactly! How long does "processing" take? It's almost May now!

•Did u have to do anything special to get it? I've been waiting since January and nothing on my card yet. So frustrating when my kids could use the extra food!

There's a significant backlog with PEBT 3.0 distribution this year. According to the California Department of Social Services, they're releasing payments in batches based on county and school district. Some counties are experiencing 2-3 month delays beyond the initial timeline. Make sure that: 1. Your current address matches what's on file with the school district 2. Your EBT card is still active (not expired) 3. Your children were enrolled in free/reduced lunch during the qualifying period If all those are correct, unfortunately it's just a waiting game. The PEBT hotline is overwhelmed right now with the same questions.

•Thank you for this info. My address is correct and card is active. The kids have been on the free lunch program all year. Guess I'll just keep waiting...

I was having the EXACT same problem!!! For me it was because my mailing address in the school system was slightly different than what CalFresh had on file (I had apartment #3 on one and apt 3 on the other). When I finally got through to someone at the county office, they told me that's why my PEBT was delayed. After they fixed it, it took about 2 weeks and then the money appeared on my card. Make sure ALL your info matches exactly!

•That's a good point - I'll double check the exact address formatting. Though I haven't moved or changed anything, so I'm not sure why there would be a discrepancy. Did you call the regular CalFresh number to verify the address?

I was in the same boat waiting forever and getting nowhere with the PEBT hotline. I finally tried Claimyr and got through to an actual CalFresh worker in 20 minutes instead of the hours I was spending on hold before. The worker was able to check my status and told me exactly when my PEBT would be loaded. You might want to check them out at claimyr.com - they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8

•Oh interesting - I've never heard of that service. I'll check it out if I don't see anything in the next week. Thanks for the tip!

Just a clarification that might help: PEBT 3.0 is different from regular school-year PEBT. The 3.0 is specifically for Summer 2024 benefits being distributed in early 2025. Many people are confusing this with the regular school year benefits. If your children were eligible for free/reduced meals during the 2023-2024 school year, you should receive PEBT 3.0, but the distribution timeline varies by county. Some counties started distribution in January, while others won't complete until June 2025. You can check your county's distribution schedule on the CDSS website. Also, if you've received CalFresh continuously through this period, your PEBT might be slightly reduced since there's some benefit overlap calculation they do.

•This helps a lot! I didn't realize the counties had different schedules. I'll check the CDSS website for my county's timeline. And yes, we've had CalFresh the whole time, so maybe that's affecting the amount or timing.

CDSS is THE WORST about communicating anything clearly!!! My sister in LA got her PEBT in February but I'm in Sacramento and nothing yet! Same program, same eligibility, totally different timelines and they don't bother telling anyone when to expect it. My kids are hungry NOW not whenever they get around to it!!

i just realized they might have sent u a new card instead of putting it on ur old ebt card!!! happened to my cousin, she kept checking her regular card and nothing showed up, then randomly got a new pebt card in the mail with the money on it. check ur mail carefully!!

•OMG I didn't even think of that! I'll go through my mail pile again. Although I'm pretty careful about not throwing away official-looking mail. But maybe it looks different than I expected?

After checking the most recent CDSS updates, I can confirm that: 1. Some households are receiving new P-EBT cards instead of having benefits added to existing EBT cards (especially if you received PEBT 1.0 or 2.0 on a separate card) 2. The final batch of PEBT 3.0 benefits won't be completely distributed until June 2025 3. There IS a way to check your status online now at ca.p-ebt.org - you'll need your child's student ID number and date of birth Hope this helps clarify the situation for everyone waiting.

I'm in the same situation - still waiting for my PEBT 3.0 and getting so frustrated! Reading through all these comments though has been really helpful. I'm definitely going to check that ca.p-ebt.org website that @Zara Khan mentioned, and also double-check my mail for a separate card like @Diego Fernández suggested. It's crazy how inconsistent this whole process is across counties. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - at least now I know I'm not the only one dealing with this mess!

•Welcome to the PEBT waiting club! 😅 I'm also still waiting and it's been such a roller coaster of emotions. This thread has been a lifesaver - I had no idea about the online status checker or that they might send separate cards. Definitely going to try both of those things. It's frustrating how little communication there is from CDSS about these delays, but at least we're all figuring it out together. Fingers crossed we all get our benefits soon!
