CalFresh sent a JJR/Y verification form but I don't know what it means - due soon!

I picked up my mail today and got this letter from CalFresh with some form labeled JJR and Y at the top. I can barely understand what they're asking for! The form looks official but I've never seen this one before. It says something about income verification but I already sent all my paystubs when I applied last month. I think it says I have 10 days to respond or my benefits might stop but I'm not even sure what they want me to submit. Has anyone else gotten this weird form? What exactly is a JJR/Y form and what kind of documents do I need to send back? I really can't afford to lose my benefits over paperwork confusion.

omg same thing happened to me i got weird letters after applying and almost lost benefits bc i didnt know what they meant. call ur worker asap!

I've tried calling like 6 times already but keep getting stuck in the automated system. Do you remember what the JJR/Y form actually wanted?

That form is most likely the 'Job/Resource Report' (hence JJR) which they send out when they need additional verification about your employment or other income sources. The 'Y' probably indicates the form version or county code. Don't panic, but you do need to respond within the timeframe given (usually 10 days from the date on the letter). They're likely asking for additional pay documentation - maybe they couldn't verify something from what you already submitted. Look carefully at what specific months they're requesting and if they're asking for anything specific like bank statements or employer verification. Make sure you respond even if you think they already have the information - sometimes different departments don't communicate well with each other.

Thank you! That makes sense now. Looking more closely, they're asking for my last 3 bank statements AND paystubs, even though I already sent my paystubs. So annoying they didn't just ask for everything at once. I'm going to try calling again tomorrow.

I HAD THIS EXACT PROBLEM!!! The county office doesn't make anything clear with these forms!! I sent in what they asked but they STILL discontinued my benefits saying I never responded even though I have PROOF I faxed everything!! This system is designed to kick people off benefits I swear. They make everything confusing on purpose, then blame US when something goes wrong!

They did this to my sister too. She sent all her documents and they claimed they never got them. Always get a receipt when you submit anything!

When I got forms like this, I found that using Claimyr was the only way I could actually reach a live CalFresh worker to explain exactly what they needed. You can check them out at claimyr.com - they have a system that gets you through the phone queue without waiting on hold forever. Saved me when I was in a similar situation with confusing paperwork. They have a video that shows how it works here: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 I was able to talk to an actual person who explained exactly what documents they needed for my verification. Much better than guessing!

Never heard of this but I'm desperate at this point. Did you have to pay for it? I'll check out the video. Anything is better than getting hung up on again after waiting 40 minutes.

Those county form codes can be so confusing! The JJR form is the Job and Resource Report that's used when they need additional verification about your income or resources. Here's what you need to do: 1. Read through the form carefully - it should list exactly what verification they need (likely paystubs, bank statements, or employment verification) 2. Look at the date range they're requesting - sometimes they need documentation from specific months 3. Make copies of EVERYTHING you send them 4. Get proof of submission (receipt from the office, fax confirmation, or delivery confirmation if mailing) 5. Follow up 2-3 days after submitting to confirm they received it They typically send these out when something from your original application raised a question or they couldn't verify something electronically. Responding promptly is crucial to keep your benefits active. Let us know if you have any questions about specific sections of the form!

This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I found the list of what they need in the small print on page 2. They want my bank statements AND a letter from my employer confirming my hours were reduced (which is why I applied). I'm going to gather everything tomorrow and take it directly to the office to get a receipt.

just wondering did u report all ur income on ur application? sometimes they send those forms when they find out about income u didnt tell them about through their verification system. happened to my cousin and they almost charged him with fraud

Yes I reported everything! I only have one job and I sent all my paystubs with my application. They're asking for bank statements now too which makes me think they're double-checking everything. I have nothing to hide but it's still stressful.

Good plan to take the documents in person! One more thing - make sure you ask for a "Proof of Submission" receipt when you drop off the documents. This is different from just a general receipt and specifically shows which documents you submitted. This has saved many people when the county later claims they never received something. Also, if your income situation is complex (like reduced hours, seasonal work, or multiple jobs), include a brief letter explaining it clearly. Sometimes case workers don't understand unique situations and a simple explanation can prevent further verification requests.

I finally got this resolved! I took everything to the office and got that receipt you mentioned. The worker there was actually helpful and explained they're doing extra verification because I applied right after my hours were cut. My benefits were approved today - what a relief! Thanks for all the advice everyone.
