Anyone receive their P-EBT 3.0 cards for 2025 yet? Distribution timeline confusion

Hey everyone, I'm really confused about the P-EBT 3.0 cards that were supposed to be distributed this year. My kids qualify for free school lunch, and I thought we were supposed to receive the new P-EBT cards by now. It's already mid-April 2025, and I haven't gotten anything in the mail. Has anyone actually received their P-EBT 3.0 cards yet? The CDSS website is super vague about the distribution timeline, just says "spring 2025" but nothing specific. My old P-EBT card from the previous round is completely empty, and with grocery prices going crazy, this extra food assistance would really help right now. Anyone have actual info on when they're shipping these out?

Really? That's good to hear someone's actually getting them! I double-checked my address on BenefitsCal and it's correct. Did you get any notification before it arrived or did it just show up?

I haven't received anything either and I've been checking the mailbox every day. The school said they submitted all the student information back in January so I don't understand the hold up. I called the P-EBT hotline twice but couldn't get through to a real person. Just stuck in that automated system that doesn't tell you anything useful. So frustrating when my kids definitely qualify but we're still waiting!

Exactly! The automated system is useless. Just keeps telling me to "check back later" without any specific timeline. I wish they'd at least give us a month when we could expect it.

The P-EBT 3.0 cards are being distributed in phases throughout Spring 2025, with different counties receiving them at different times. Distribution started in late March and will continue through June. They're sending them based on school district and county, not all at once. If your children qualify for free/reduced lunch and your school participates in the National School Lunch Program, you should receive a card. No application is necessary. The cards are being mailed to the address the school has on file, not necessarily your CalFresh address, so check with your school to make sure your address is current. Each eligible child will receive approximately $1,760 for the 2024-2025 school year, loaded either on a new P-EBT card or onto your existing P-EBT card if you received one previously.

Thank you for this detailed information! $1,760 per child would be amazing help. Do you know if there's any way to check which phase our county is in for the distribution timeline?

I work with several families who've received their P-EBT 3.0 cards in the past two weeks. They're definitely rolling out, but it's happening in waves by county. If you're concerned about your card not arriving, there are a few things you can do: 1. Verify your mailing address with your child's school - the cards go to whatever address is in the school system 2. Check if your previous P-EBT card is actually empty - sometimes they load new benefits onto existing cards 3. Contact your county office directly instead of using the general P-EBT hotline Also, if you're having trouble reaching someone at CalFresh or P-EBT about this, you might want to try Claimyr (claimyr.com). They can get you connected to a real person at your county office without the long wait times. They have a demo video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8. I've recommended it to several families who were stuck in the automated system loop.

I didn't know they might load benefits on the old card! I haven't actually checked the balance on our old P-EBT card in months because I thought we needed the new one. I'm going to check right now.

why is everyone so confused about this?? the p-ebt is different from calfresh ebt. they send the p-ebt cards to your kids school address. if you moved you wont get it unless you updated with school. also the amount is different this year its NOT the same as previous p-ebt.

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS RIGGED!! I've been waiting since JANUARY and called that stupid hotline 15 TIMES!!! My neighbor got hers but I didn't and our kids go to THE SAME SCHOOL!! How does that make any sense? They're playing games with us while our kids need food NOW not whenever they feel like sending the cards. I'm going to the school district office tomorrow and demanding answers because this is RIDICULOUS!!

I understand your frustration, but the distribution really is happening in phases, even within the same school. Some households get their cards earlier than others based on various processing factors. The school district office actually doesn't handle the P-EBT distribution - that's done at the state level through CDSS. You'll have better luck contacting your county social services office directly.

Thanks to this thread, I actually just called to check my old P-EBT card balance and was shocked to find they loaded the new benefits already! $1,760 for each of my kids, and I had no idea. Never got any notification. I would never have checked if I hadn't seen this discussion. Definitely worth checking your old cards if you still have them.

OMG thank you for sharing this! I'm going to check my old card right now. What number did you call to check the balance?

To check your P-EBT card balance, you can call the number on the back of your card, or use the general EBT balance check number: 877-328-9677. You'll need your card number and PIN. Also, for anyone still waiting, here's the county distribution schedule that was recently posted on the CDSS website: - Phase 1 (March 15-30): Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, Del Norte, El Dorado, Humboldt counties - Phase 2 (April 1-15): Alameda, Butte, Colusa, Contra Costa counties - Phase 3 (April 16-30): Fresno, Imperial, Kern, Kings, Lake, Lassen counties - Phase 4 (May 1-15): Los Angeles County - Phase 5 (May 16-31): Madera, Marin, Mariposa, Mendocino, Merced, Modoc, Mono, Monterey, Napa counties - Phase 6 (June 1-15): Orange, Placer, Plumas, Riverside, Sacramento, San Benito counties - Phase 7 (June 16-30): Remaining counties They're also sending notification letters about 5-7 days before the cards arrive.

Just wanted to add another data point - I'm in San Bernardino County and got my P-EBT 3.0 card yesterday (April 15th). It came with a letter explaining the benefits and had $1,760 loaded for my daughter. The letter mentioned that if you don't receive your card by 30 days after your county's distribution phase, you should contact your local county office to request a replacement. Also, for anyone who moved recently, you can update your address by calling the P-EBT customer service line at 877-382-8622 - they can help make sure future cards get to the right place. Really glad this thread exists because it helped me realize I should check for the card!
