CA EBT: Can't reach caseworker, documents unconfirmed - How to actually talk to someone?

I'm so frustrated with trying to get in touch with my case worker. I've submitted all my documents but I have no idea if they've received them or not. I've been trying to call for days but can't get through. Has anyone else had this problem? Any advice on how to actually speak to a real person?

Tom Maxon

I found a way to solve contacting unresponsive case workers, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPcuPx_BKok

have u tried sending a carrier pigeon? might be faster than waiting for these clowns to respond 🐦

lmao maybe we should all chip in and buy them some new computers. Bet they're still using Windows 95

Carrier pigeon? Too high-tech. I'm thinking smoke signals at this point πŸ’¨

Okay, listen up folks. I've been dealing with this system for years, and here's what I've learned: 1. Persistence is key. Call every single day if you have to. 2. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and documents submitted. This will help if you need to escalate. 3. Try calling right when they open or just before they close. Sometimes you can catch someone then. 4. If all else fails, contact your local representative. They can sometimes intervene on your behalf. 5. Don't give up! It's frustrating, but keep at it. Remember, you're not alone in this. The system is overwhelmed, but that doesn't mean you should suffer in silence. Keep fighting for what you need!

Contacting my rep actually worked for me. Took a while, but they eventually got back to me and helped sort things out

Thank you so much for this advice. I'm definitely going to try calling at different times

I'm starting to think these caseworkers don't actually exist. Has anyone ever seen one in the wild? 🧐

Maybe they're all AI and the system is just one big chatbot πŸ€–

If they're AI, they need a serious upgrade. My toaster is more responsive

Have you tried emailing them? Sometimes that works better than calling. Just make sure to include your case number in the subject line.

I've sent like 5 emails already. Radio silence. Starting to think my case worker is actually a ghost πŸ‘»

Emails are useless. They probably have thousands of unread messages. You gotta keep calling

Remember when we thought 2020 was bad? Little did we know the real nightmare would be trying to navigate this system in 2023 πŸ’€

For real. I'd rather go through 2020 again than deal with this mess

LOL. At this point, I'm willing to try anything. Where do we meet?

Has anyone had luck with the online portal? I've been trying to upload my documents there but keep getting error messages.

The online portal is a joke. Half the time it's down for maintenance

Try using a different browser. For some reason, it only works on Internet Explorer for me πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Have you tried going to the office in person? Sometimes face-to-face is the only way to get things done.

0 coins

-

CosmicCowboy

I wish I could, but the nearest office is like 2 hours away 😩

Most offices are still closed or by appointment only. Good luck getting an appointment tho

Seriously considering hiring a skywriter to get my caseworker's attention at this point. "PLEASE CALL ME BACK" in big letters over the city πŸ˜…

Lmao, I'd chip in for that. Maybe we could do a group message for all of us

Why stop there? Let's rent a blimp and park it over their office

If anyone is considering using Claimyr, here is a bit more info: Claimyr provides a service that essentially waits on hold for you, which can be incredibly beneficial if you're struggling to get through to your caseworker. The downside, of course, is the cost. While it might be frustrating to pay for something that ideally should be free, it’s an option if you're at your wit's end. However, if enough people need to resort to this service, it may put more pressure on the system to improve its accessibility.

Welcome to the club, buddy. I've been trying to reach my caseworker for weeks now. It's like they've all gone into witness protection or something πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

Update: Still haven't gotten through. This is getting ridiculous. How are we supposed to survive when we can't even get basic information about our cases?

Hang in there, OP. We're all in the same boat

Have you tried reaching out on social media? Sometimes they respond there

Pro tip: If you can't get through on the main line, try calling some of the other departments. Sometimes they can transfer you to the right person.

That's a smart move. It's unfortunate we have to jump through hoops, but whatever works, right?

I feel your pain. The system is so broken. I've been waiting for a response for 3 months now. It's ridiculous how they expect us to survive without any communication.

3 months? Amateur. Try 6 months of radio silence πŸ†

Its not just broken, its completely FUBAR. We need to demand better from our government

I totally agree. It's like the entire system is designed to frustrate us to the brink of giving up.

I heard they just implemented a new system. Anyone know if that's supposed to speed things up?

0 coins

-

Nia Harris

New system, same old problems. Don't hold your breath

Yeah, I saw that too. Supposedly it's meant to streamline everything, but who knows if it'll actually work

I hope it does eventually improve things, but it's hard to keep the faith after so many failed attempts at system upgrades.

Hey, I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video for more info: https://youtu.be/iYFSA6RTlOI

$20 just to talk to someone? That's highway robbery!
