What happens after submitting FAFSA corrections? Still waiting for processing
I submitted corrections to my FAFSA form on April 14th (about 3 weeks ago), but my status is still stuck on 'FAFSA Correction Started.' It hasn't moved to 'Correction Submitted' or 'Correction Processed' yet. My parent contributor (listed as completed) finished their section the same day. I'm getting nervous because my college is asking for my final SAI score for scholarship decisions. How long does correction processing usually take? Should I just keep waiting or is something wrong with my application? Starting to stress out!

•4 weeks?? My financial aid deadline is in 2 weeks! Did you have to contact anyone to get it moving faster?

Correction processing is taking longer than usual this year because of the new FAFSA system. The Department of Education is experiencing significant backlogs. However, your status should have changed from "Started" to "Submitted" if the correction went through properly. I'd recommend checking these things: 1. Log out completely and log back in to see if the status updates 2. Check your email for any messages about missing information 3. Verify all sections are truly complete (sometimes there's a hidden incomplete field) If none of that works, you should contact Federal Student Aid directly.

•I just logged out and back in but still showing the same status. I haven't received any emails about missing info either. Everything shows complete on my end. I'm really worried now!

I actually had this EXACT same problem!!! The trick is that if you STARTED a correction but didn't fully SUBMIT it, it just stays in that status forever. You have to go back in and find the actual submit button at the very end - it's easy to miss. Check if there's a "Continue" or "Submit" button somewhere in your correction form.

•OMG I think you might be right. I remember filling everything out but maybe I never hit the final submit? Going to check right now... will report back!

•You were right!!! There was a final review page I needed to confirm and then hit submit. I can't believe I missed that. Thank you so much!

I was stuck in FAFSA correction limbo for weeks and tried calling their regular number but kept getting disconnected. Eventually used Claimyr.com to get through to an agent in about 10 minutes. They helped me figure out what was wrong with my correction submission. There's a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ - was definitely worth it since I needed my SAI score for scholarship applications.

•Is that service legit? I've been trying to call FSA for three days and can't get through.

•Totally legit - used it twice now. They just help you skip the phone queue. The actual call is still directly with the real FAFSA agents.

Don't stress too much! Most schools understand the FAFSA delays this year and are being flexible with financial aid deadlines. I recommend emailing your school's financial aid office directly to explain the situation. They might be able to give you a deadline extension or work with your current status while waiting for processing. That worked for me!

•That's a really good idea. I'll email my financial aid office today. I'm just nervous because these are merit scholarships that are first-come-first-served, so every day counts!

Everyone here is giving you bad info. What's happening is that this year's FASFA is taking FOREVER to process because the whole system is broke. My son submitted his in JANUARY and we just got the SAI last week!!! The education department needs to fix their mess but meanwhile all students are suffering. It's not your fault, you probably did everything right, the system is just terrible.

•While there are certainly processing delays this year, the status should still change from "Started" to "Submitted" immediately when corrections are properly submitted. It sounds like the OP actually missed the final submission step, which is a different issue from the processing delays.

UPDATE: Thank you all so much for your help! As @confused_parent suggested, I actually never completed the final submission step. I went back into my application and found I needed to confirm the review page and hit the final submit button. Now my status shows "FAFSA Correction Submitted" instead of "Started"! Now I just have to wait for processing, but at least it's in the system correctly. I'll also contact my school's financial aid office as suggested to let them know about the delay.

•Great news! According to the FSA website, correction processing is taking about 3-5 business days once properly submitted. Glad you got it figured out!
