How long for mailed FAFSA forms to be processed at Kentucky facility?
I had to mail a paper verification form to the FAFSA processing center in London, KY about 2 weeks ago because the online system kept giving me errors. Has anyone else had to mail anything to this facility? I'm getting super anxious because I haven't received any confirmation that they got my paperwork. I don't even know if I should expect an email or something in regular mail. The financial aid deadline for my top school is coming up in about 3 weeks and I'm panicking. How long does it usually take them to process mailed forms? Will they update my online account or just send me something? The whole process is SO confusing!

I sent verification docs to the Kentucky center last month. It took almost 3 weeks before my FAFSA status updated online! Their processing times are TERRIBLE right now. My sister sent her forms in December and it only took 10 days, so I think they're swamped with the new FAFSA changes. Keep checking your studentaid.gov account daily - that's where it will eventually show up. If you're really concerned about your school deadline, you should contact your school's financial aid office and explain the situation. Most will give you a grace period if you can prove you submitted everything on time.

•Yep, exactly how mine went too. The system is ridiculous. No confirmation, no tracking, just radio silence until it suddenly appears as processed. In 2025 you'd think they could at least send a confirmation email when they receive your documents!

The Federal Student Aid processing center in London, KY typically takes 10-21 business days (2-4 weeks) to process mailed documentation. However, during peak periods like February-April, processing times can extend to 25+ business days. You should see updates in your studentaid.gov account once processed - they rarely send confirmation via mail or email. I recommend taking these steps: 1. Keep checking your online FSA account daily 2. Contact your school's financial aid office to inform them of the pending verification 3. Ask if they can place a note in your file about the pending documentation 4. Most schools have procedures for handling verification delays Traditionally, schools will work with you if you can document when you submitted materials. Consider saving any proof of mailing (tracking numbers, receipts).

•Thank you so much for the detailed info! I wish I had used tracking when I mailed it... I just used regular mail 😫 I'll definitely call my school tomorrow and let them know what's happening.

•Omg that's my worst nightmare! Did you just use the regular FSA phone number? I tried calling but was on hold for like an hour before I had to go to work...

I went through this exact thing last month! The Kentucky facility is crazy backed up right now with the new FAFSA changes. From what I heard from my financial aid counselor, they're taking about 3-4 weeks minimum for processing mailed forms, and they don't send any sort of confirmation when they receive your docs. It's so frustrating!

•ya they really need to update their system. like how hard would it be to scan documents when they arrive and send an automated email? smh

I've seen this issue with many students this year. The Kentucky processing center is experiencing significant delays due to the FAFSA Simplification Act implementation. Here's what you need to know: 1. Current processing time is 15-25 business days for paper documents 2. No confirmations are sent when documents are received - only when processed 3. Updates appear on your studentaid.gov account 4. The call center (1-800-4-FED-AID) likely won't have status updates until processing begins I've had success using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to reach FSA agents without the long hold times. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ Meanwhile, contact your school's financial aid office immediately. They can often place a hold on your file and grant extensions for verification documents that are pending processing. Most schools have a standardized process for handling FAFSA processing delays.

•Thank you! I just looked up Claimyr and I might try it tomorrow. I seriously need to speak to someone about my application and I can't afford to sit on hold for hours again. I already emailed my school but I'm still waiting to hear back.

I sent verification docs to Kentucky facility twice this year. First time in January took exactly 12 days to process. Second time in March has taken 23 days and counting! I think they're completely overwhelmed with the new FAFSA system. One tip though - call your school's financial aid office ASAP. Most of them are aware of the FAFSA processing delays and have protocols in place to handle it. My university gave me a 30-day extension on my aid deadline after I explained the situation. Just be sure to document when you mailed your forms!

•Thank you! I just called my school and you were right - they said they're giving automatic 3-week extensions because of all the FAFSA delays. Such a relief!

•I tried to do everything online but kept getting this weird error code when I tried to upload my documents. The FSA website told me I had to mail them instead. Trust me, this wasn't my first choice!

Hey Amara! I'm in a similar boat - mailed my verification docs to Kentucky about 10 days ago and the waiting is killing me too! Based on what everyone's saying here, it sounds like we're looking at 3-4 weeks minimum which is so stressful with deadlines coming up. I'm really glad to hear your school gave you that extension though - that takes some pressure off! One thing that might help while we wait: I've been screenshotting my studentaid.gov account daily so I have proof of when my status changes (or doesn't change lol). My financial aid counselor suggested doing this in case there are any disputes later about processing times. Also keeping my fingers crossed that maybe we'll get lucky and they'll process ours faster than expected! Keep us posted on when yours comes through - I'll do the same. We got this! 💪

•Thank you Honorah! It's so nice to know I'm not alone in this stressful waiting game 😅 The screenshot idea is brilliant - I'm definitely going to start doing that today! I've been checking my account obsessively but never thought to document it. Really hoping we both get good news soon. I'll absolutely update everyone once mine processes. Fingers crossed for both of us! 🤞
