FAFSA signature page missing after email notification - stuck in review status

I'm literally losing my mind with this FAFSA signature issue! My daughter's application is showing 'in review' but I got an email yesterday saying there's a missing signature needed. When I click the link in the email, it just takes me to her application dashboard where everything looks complete! I've called the FSA help line THREE times today, but each time the automated system just keeps cycling me through the same menu options with no actual help. I've tried logging out and back in, using different browsers, and even had my daughter log in from her account to see if she could find where to sign, but nothing! Has anyone else dealt with this signature glitch when the system shows forms are already in review? I need to get this resolved ASAP since her college is asking for the completed FAFSA for scholarship consideration.

Ran into the exact same problem last week. Their system is so frustrating!! For me, I had to go to the actual studentaid.gov site (not through the email link) and then go to the "Complete Aid Process" tab, then look under "FAFSA Form." There was a small notification there about pending signatures that didn't show up anywhere else. Super intuitive design, right? 🙄

Thank you! I'll try that right now. Did you have to use a desktop? I've been trying on my phone and wondering if that's part of the problem?

The FAFSA signature thing is THE WORST. Sometimes the system shows 'in review' even when it's actually waiting for signatures. Try this: go to the FAFSA dashboard, click on the 2025-2026 application, then look for a small yellow box that might appear at the top of the page. Sometimes it's easy to miss and doesn't show up on the main dashboard view. You might need to click through several screens to find it.

There's no yellow box anywhere I can see! I've clicked through every single page. The system says 'processing' but the email says missing signature. I'm so confused.

This exact issue happened to me with my twins' applications. Here's what worked: the signature page is sometimes hidden under the "Agreement of Terms" section. You need to specifically go to your daughter's application, select the year (2025-2026), then navigate to that section. The most reliable method I found was to go to the FAFSA form status, click on "View Submitted FAFSA Form" and then check each section individually. The signature requirement sometimes appears as a separate action item at the very end.

Thank you for the detailed steps! I just checked the "Agreement of Terms" section and still don't see anything about signatures. It's like the system is telling me two different things - the email says signature needed but the website shows everything complete. I'm going to keep looking.

i had this happen and it was because i was using the wrong FSA ID to sign. make sure your daughter is using HER fsa id and youre using YOURS. we got so confused cuz my son was trying to sign with my id by accident. check that maybe??

That's a good point! I'll double-check with my daughter to make sure she used her own FSA ID. Thanks for the suggestion!

Getting through to an actual person at Federal Student Aid is basically impossible these days. I spent 4 hours trying last week and kept getting disconnected. I ended up using Claimyr (claimyr.com) and it worked great - they got me through to an actual FAFSA representative in about 10 minutes who fixed the signature issue on their end. There's a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ

Is this legit? I'm always wary of third-party services...

This is a known issue with the new FAFSA system. The signature page problem is happening because the system sometimes fails to register digital signatures properly, even when they've been provided. Here's what you need to do: 1. First, verify that both you and your daughter have valid FSA IDs that are properly linked to the FAFSA application 2. Go to studentaid.gov directly (not through email links) 3. Navigate to the 2025-2026 FAFSA application 4. Select "View or Print your FAFSA Form" 5. Scroll all the way to the last page to check signature status 6. If no signature option appears there, you'll need to contact FSA directly The system sometimes shows "in review" status prematurely. A Federal Student Aid representative can verify whether signatures are actually missing or if it's a system notification error.

Thank you for these detailed steps! I followed your instructions and got to the last page, but there's no clear indication about signatures being missing. I'll try to contact FSA directly, though that's been nearly impossible so far. This whole system seems so much more complicated than last year's version.

OMG the exact same thing happened to us last month!!! So frustrating! It turned out that even though we both signed, my daughter's FSA ID wasn't properly linked to her Social Security number in the system. We had to call and stay on hold for almost 2 hours, but they finally fixed it. The problem is that the system sometimes shows "in review" status even though it's actually waiting for something else to be fixed. Keep trying the phone line at odd hours - we got through at 8:05am on a Tuesday.

Two hours on hold?! That's insane. I'll try calling right when they open tomorrow morning. Did you have to provide any specific information when you finally got through?

UPDATE: I finally figured it out! After trying literally everything suggested here, I discovered the issue was actually with our browser settings. I switched from Chrome to Firefox, cleared all cookies, and suddenly a pop-up appeared with the signature prompt when I logged in. For anyone facing this issue - try different browsers and disable any ad blockers or cookie blockers you might have. The signature page was there the whole time but was being blocked by my browser settings. My daughter's FAFSA now shows fully processed instead of in review. Thanks everyone for your help!

Glad you figured it out! Their website is so poorly designed it's ridiculous. Thanks for sharing the solution!

Great troubleshooting! This is actually a common issue with the new FAFSA system - certain browser configurations can prevent security elements from loading properly. I'll add that using private/incognito browsing mode can sometimes help with these issues as well.
