FAFSA signature page freezing when contributor tries to sign - any fixes?

I'm completely stuck with my FAFSA and starting to panic. My application was processed initially, but then I noticed we reported my dad's income wrong (we accidentally included some retirement distributions that should've been excluded). We made the corrections to his financial info, but now we're having a weird technical issue. When my dad tries to click the 'Sign' button to confirm the corrections, absolutely NOTHING happens. No error message, no confirmation, the page just sits there like he never clicked anything. I've already tried: - Using different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, even Edge) - Clearing cache and cookies - Checking our internet connection - Visiting my college financial aid office for help (they were clueless) - Calling the FAFSA helpline 3 different times (was on hold forever and got disconnected twice) I'm getting desperate because I think I might miss my school's priority deadline if we can't get this fixed soon. My SAI is going to be completely wrong if I can't get these corrections submitted! Has anyone else dealt with this signature page freezing issue? Any tech wizards know how to fix this??

I had almost the exact same problem last month with my mom's signature not going through. Turns out it was because of an outdated FSA ID password. Have your dad log into his FSA ID account separately (not through the FAFSA portal) and update his password. Then wait about 30 minutes before trying to sign again. That fixed it for us!

Thanks for the suggestion! My dad just checked and his FSA ID password was updated recently (like 2 weeks ago), so I don't think that's the issue. Did you have any other tricks that worked?

omg the FAFSA website is literally the WORST. breaks all the time. try signing at like 2am when nobody else is on it. worked for me lol

Lol that's actually not a bad idea. The servers might be less busy then. Might have to set an alarm and try the middle-of-the-night approach if nothing else works!

This is a known issue with the studentaid.gov site when making corrections to contributor information specifically. There are a few technical solutions you can try: 1. Make sure JavaScript is enabled in your browser 2. Try using a desktop/laptop instead of a mobile device 3. Check if any browser extensions are interfering (try incognito mode) 4. Clear your browser's SSL state (in advanced settings) 5. If the signature page has been open for more than 30 minutes, the session might have timed out - start fresh If none of these work, there's actually a paper signature page you can print and mail in. Look for the "Signature Page" option in the menu when you're on the corrections page.

Thank you for these detailed suggestions! I just checked and JavaScript is definitely enabled. We've been using my dad's desktop computer (not mobile), but I'll try the incognito mode and clearing the SSL state. I didn't know about the paper signature option - that might be our backup plan if we can't get the online version to work.

we had this problem too!! it was super annoying but what fixed it was using a completely different computer. like we tried on my moms laptop for days and it wouldnt work, then we tried on my brothers gaming PC and it worked first try. no idea why but maybe try a different device completely?

That's a good idea - we've only tried it on my dad's computer so far. I'll see if we can try on my laptop tonight. Thanks for the suggestion!

I actually work at a college financial aid office, and we see this issue ALL THE TIME. The FAFSA system glitches with signatures specifically when making corrections. Here's what usually works: 1. Try logging out completely (both parent and student) 2. Clear browser cache and cookies 3. Wait 24 hours (I know this sounds strange, but sometimes the system needs time to reset) 4. Log back in and try again If that doesn't work, call the Federal Student Aid Information Center again and specifically ask for a "signature page override." They can sometimes process this on their end without the signature going through normally. Make sure you have your FAFSA ID and the contributor's info ready.

Thank you so much for this insider info! We'll try the complete logout and 24-hour wait. I didn't know about the signature page override - that's super helpful! I'll try calling again and ask specifically about that.

Have you tried using a VPN? Sometimes the FAFSA website gets weird about IP addresses, especially if you've been trying to log in multiple times from the same location. I used NordVPN and suddenly it worked when I was having a similar issue.

I haven't thought about using a VPN! That's an interesting suggestion. We don't currently have one, but I might be able to use my university's VPN service to test this theory. Thanks!

Man I spent DAYS trying to get through to someone at FAFSA when I had signature issues last semester. Called over and over, waited on hold for hours and either got disconnected or got someone who couldn't help. FINALLY someone told me about Claimyr and it literally saved me. It holds your place in line and calls you back when an agent is ready. Went to claimyr.com, watched their demo video (https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ) and was talking to an actual FSA agent within like 30 minutes instead of spending hours on hold. The agent was able to clear whatever signature glitch was happening on my account. Seriously worth checking out since you've already tried the technical fixes.

Oh wow, I've never heard of this service before. It sounds exactly like what I need! I'll definitely check out that website and video. If I can actually get through to someone who can help, that would be amazing. Thanks for sharing this!

Yeah I was skeptical too but it definitely worked for me. The FSA wait times are insane right now because of all the new FAFSA changes and glitches. They just hold your place in line and call you when someone picks up, nothing sketchy about it.

ok this is gonna sound weird but my bro works in IT and he said sometimes government sites have compatibility issues with certain browsers. we couldnt get it to work on chrome or firefox but when we tried on microsoft edge it suddenly worked!!! might be worth a shot

We did try Edge actually, but still no luck. But maybe there's a specific browser setting we need to adjust? I'll try Edge again with different security settings. Thanks!

Just wanted to follow up and mention that if you're approaching a priority deadline for your school, you should contact your financial aid office directly and let them know about the technical difficulties you're experiencing. Most schools have processes in place to accommodate students who have legitimate technical issues with FAFSA submission. They might be able to note your account or extend your deadline while you resolve the signature issue.

That's really helpful - thank you! I'll call my financial aid office tomorrow morning and explain the situation. Hopefully they'll be understanding about the deadline since this is completely out of my control.

Did you verify that your dad's name is entered EXACTLY the same on the FAFSA as it appears on his FSA ID account? Even small differences (like using a middle initial in one place but not the other) can cause the signature verification to fail silently. Worth double-checking this if you haven't already.

That's a good point! I'm not 100% sure if his name matches exactly between the two systems. We'll definitely check that tonight. Thanks for the suggestion!
