FAFSA parent signature page not loading - stuck in submission loop

Has anyone else had issues with the parent signature page not loading? I've filled out all the parent contribution info on my son's 2025-2026 FAFSA (income, assets, household size, etc.), but when I click 'Save and Continue' on the last screen, it just loops me back to the beginning of the parent section instead of taking me to the signature page. I've tried 3 different browsers, cleared cache, even used my phone, but same issue every time. The progress bar shows 85% complete, but I can't get that final part done! The weird thing is there are no error messages - it just won't advance. My son's part is complete and he can't submit without my signature. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong or how to break this cycle??

Have you called the help desk? I tried yesterday but gave up after being on hold for 45 minutes. This is so stressful with the priority deadline coming up.

This is a known glitch in the 2025-2026 FAFSA that's affecting many parent contributors. There are a few things that might be causing it: 1. Check if you left any required fields blank (even if they don't show as required) 2. Make sure all dollar amounts are entered without commas or decimals 3. There might be conflicting information between your tax data and manually entered information 4. If you have multiple children in college, the system sometimes has trouble with the parent contribution section The most reliable fix is to log out completely, wait 24 hours (this allows the system to reset your session), then log back in and try again. When you return, use the "Resume FAFSA" option rather than starting from your dashboard.

Thank you! I'll double check all the dollar values - I think I did use commas in some fields. Will try the 24-hour reset if that doesn't work. Really appreciate the detailed advice!

try going back and make sure u answered ALL questions even the ones that say optional. my daughters fafsa did same thing turned out i skipped the question about how much we have in cash/savings/checking accounts cuz i didnt think it was required!!! soon as i put in a number (even though we barely have anything in there lol) it finally let me continue to signature page

That's interesting! I'll check all the optional fields too. I might have left the investment section blank since we don't have any. Maybe the system wants zeros instead of blanks.

I HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE!!! What a nightmare. Spent literally 6 hours trying to figure it out. Want to know what fixed it? After talking to THREE different FSA agents who couldn't help, I finally reached someone who knew what was happening. Apparently there's a hidden validation error that's not showing up on the interface. The solution is super weird - you need to go to the parent assets section and manually enter a zero in EVERY field, even if you already put zeros or if you left them blank because they didn't apply. For some reason, the system isn't recognizing blank fields or fields where the data was imported from the IRS as valid entries for the next step. After I did this, I could finally reach the signature page.

How did you manage to get through to THREE agents?? I've been calling for two days and can't get a single human on the line! The wait time is always "greater than 2 hours" and then I get disconnected! This is so frustrating when deadlines are coming up!

I had the same trouble reaching anyone at FSA until I tried Claimyr. It's this service that holds your place in line and calls you back when an agent is available. Saved me hours of waiting on hold. I found their video demo really helpful: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ and their website is claimyr.com. Much better than repeatedly getting disconnected after waiting forever.

Financial aid advisor here. The loop issue you're describing has been affecting about 15% of parent contributors on the 2025-2026 FAFSA. The Department of Education is aware of the problem, but the fix hasn't been fully implemented yet. Beyond what others have suggested, there's one other technical solution that has worked for many families: 1. Log out completely 2. Clear your browser cache AND cookies 3. Use a private/incognito browsing window 4. Log in with your FSA ID 5. Instead of continuing from where you left off, use the "View SAI Calculation" option from your dashboard (even though it's not complete) 6. This will trigger a system check that often identifies the specific field causing the loop 7. The system may then direct you to the exact field that needs correction If that doesn't work, you can request a manual override by submitting Form FSA-40 through your student aid account. This places your application in a queue for manual review, which typically takes 3-5 business days but will break the loop.

Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I didn't even know about the Form FSA-40 option. I'll try the incognito window approach first and then the manual override if needed. It's incredible how complicated this process has become compared to previous years.

The new FAFSA is a complete disaster. My daughter lost thousands in institutional aid because we couldn't submit on time due to these exact technical issues. The government had THREE YEARS to prepare the new system and yet here we are with these basic functions not working. And good luck getting help - the phone lines are a joke. This will end up hurting the most financially vulnerable students who don't have parents with time to troubleshoot these ridiculous problems.

I totally agree. The 'simplified' FAFSA is anything but. My son almost missed his school's priority deadline because of these glitches. The schools need to be more understanding about these delays that are completely out of our control.

For what it's worth, many institutions are aware of these widespread technical issues and have adjusted their internal deadlines accordingly. If you were unable to submit by a priority deadline due to documented FAFSA technical problems, I strongly encourage contacting the financial aid office directly with documentation of your attempts. Many schools are making case-by-case accommodations this year.

UPDATE: I finally got it working! For anyone else stuck in this loop, here's what worked for me: 1. I followed the advice about entering zeros in ALL asset fields (even ones that didn't apply to me) 2. I removed all commas and dollar signs from every financial field 3. I used an incognito browser window after clearing cache After doing all three, I was FINALLY able to get to the signature page and complete the submission. My son's SAI calculation appeared about 2 hours later. Thank you everyone for your help with this frustrating issue!

Great news! Thanks for updating the thread with what worked. This will help others facing the same issue. If you don't mind sharing, how long did the entire process take from when you first started having the loop problem until final resolution?

It took almost a week of trying different solutions. The most frustrating part was that there were no error messages pointing to the problem! Just endless looping. Hopefully they fix this before the next application cycle.
