Will escalated ESD identity issue bump my adjudication that's been pending since November?

Finally some movement on my claim after 6 weeks! Called the Governor's office yesterday (desperate times...) and within ONE HOUR, I got a message in my ESD account saying there was an identity issue. Then another hour later, they messaged that my identity was verified and they're now sending my case to the separation department. My question is about the adjudication that's been sitting there since 11/16. Will this escalation through the Governor's office push that adjudication to the top of the pile too? Or is it still sitting in the same queue it's been in for almost 3 weeks? The message specifically mentioned the identity verification being sent to separation, but didn't say anything about my existing adjudication issue. Really hoping this all gets resolved soon. Bills are piling up and it's almost Christmas... Has anyone else had experience with Governor's office escalations? Do they typically handle all pending issues or just the specific one mentioned?

Congrats on the identity verification clearing up! To answer your question - when the Governor's Office escalates, they typically flag your ENTIRE claim, not just a single issue. So your 11/16 adjudication should get prioritized too, even if they didn't specifically mention it. My experience was that after my escalation, all my pending issues were resolved within about 7-10 days. Hang in there!

Oh that's a huge relief! 7-10 days sounds way better than waiting forever. Thanks for sharing your experience!

The governor's office is USELESS!!! I did the same thing and they said they'd "escalate" it. Two weeks later and NOTHING happened. Called again and they said they had no record of my previous call. THE SYSTEM IS RIGGED to make people give up!!!! My adjudication has been pending since AUGUST and nobody cares. Good luck with yours but don't hold your breath.

Same experience here... disappointing when government can't even help people who paid into the system

Good news on the identity verification! Regarding your question, there are actually two separate processes happening with your claim: 1. Identity verification (now complete) 2. Separation issue adjudication (the 11/16 one) When the Governor's office escalates, they typically mark the entire claim for priority, but sometimes the different departments don't coordinate perfectly. Here's what I recommend: 1. Wait about 5 business days to see if the 11/16 adjudication resolves 2. If not, call ESD directly and reference your Governor's office escalation case number 3. Make sure to continue filing your weekly claims during this waiting period The separation department will review why your employment ended to determine eligibility. Common reasons for separation adjudication include voluntary quit, misconduct, or employer contest of your claim. This is separate from identity verification.

Thanks for the detailed explanation! I'll definitely keep filing my weekly claims. My separation was a layoff, so I'm hoping there won't be any issues with that part.

Try using Claimyr to get through to an actual ESD agent! I was in adjudication for 9 weeks and getting nowhere with regular calls. Then I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got connected to an actual person in 20 minutes who fixed everything. They have a video demo that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. The agent I spoke with was able to push my adjudication through that same day. Way better than waiting for the governor's office escalation to maybe work.

I've heard of Claimyr but wasn't sure if it really worked. I'll check out that video - at this point I'm willing to try anything to get this resolved before the holidays.

Your identity adjudication was already escalated and cleared, which is great! However, the separation adjudication is a completely different issue that needs to be reviewed by a different department. I've been through this exact situation earlier this year. Even with the Governor's escalation, the separation adjudication will likely still take some time because: 1. ESD has to contact your former employer 2. The employer has a certain period to respond (usually 10 days) 3. Then an adjudicator reviews all information The good news is that your claim is now "on the radar" and should move faster than normal. The average wait time for separation adjudication is currently around 4-5 weeks, but with escalation, you might see resolution in 2-3 weeks. Make sure you respond immediately to any requests for information in your ESD account. Even a day's delay can push your claim back in the queue.

This is super helpful information, thank you! I didn't realize they still need to contact my employer. I'll keep an eye out for any information requests.

just went thru this last month. my identity got fixed but the other issue took another 2 weeks even with escalation. keep calling!

EXACTLY! They fix one thing and then act like everything is fine while you're still not getting paid. Classic ESD runaround!

One thing to keep in mind - in my experience, when you go through the Governor's office, ESD typically assigns a specific case manager to handle your claim. If you call ESD directly, ask if there's a case manager assigned to your claim from the escalation. If there is, ask for their direct contact information. Also, check your ESD account for any alerts or action items daily. Sometimes they'll request additional information but won't call or email you about it. Missing these requests can add weeks to your wait time.

This is excellent advice. I had a case manager assigned after my escalation too, and having that direct contact made a huge difference. Just to add - you can also check the "Letters and Documents" section of your ESD account regularly, as sometimes they'll upload requests there without any notification.
