When do unemployment payments go out in Washington ESD - timing confusion
I'm trying to figure out the exact timing for when Washington ESD sends out unemployment payments. I filed my weekly claim on Sunday like I always do, but I'm not sure when the money actually hits my account. Some people say Tuesday, others say Wednesday or Thursday. Does it depend on your bank? I have direct deposit set up but this is only my second week claiming so I'm still learning the schedule. Really need to know so I can plan my bills accordingly.

Washington ESD processes payments on Tuesdays and Wednesdays typically. If you file your weekly claim by Sunday, you should see the deposit by Wednesday in most cases. Some banks take an extra day though, so Thursday isn't unusual.

•Thanks! So if I filed Sunday morning, I should expect it by Wednesday or Thursday at the latest?

•Exactly. Wednesday is most common, but some banks don't process until Thursday morning.

It depends on your bank honestly. Chase usually gets mine Tuesday night, but when I had Wells Fargo it was always Thursday.

•I have Bank of America - anyone know their timing?

•BOA is usually Wednesday for me with Washington ESD payments.

I've been dealing with Washington ESD payment delays lately and found that calling them directly helps clarify when your specific payment was processed. The phone lines are crazy busy though - I tried calling for three days straight and kept getting hung up on. Finally found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that actually gets you through to a real Washington ESD agent. There's a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works. They handled all the calling for me and I got answers about my payment status the same day.

•Never heard of that service before. Does it actually work for getting through to Washington ESD?

•Yeah it worked great for me. Way better than spending hours on hold just to get disconnected.

•Interesting, might have to try that if my payment doesn't show up when expected.

The official schedule is that Washington ESD processes UI payments Tuesday-Wednesday after you file your weekly claim. Direct deposit usually shows up within 1-2 business days of processing, so Wednesday-Thursday for most people.

•That's exactly what I needed to know. So filing Sunday = payment Wednesday/Thursday. Perfect.

•What if you file your weekly claim late, like Monday or Tuesday?

•If you file Monday it might not process until the following week's batch. Always try to file by Sunday to stay on schedule.

•Right? That's exactly why I'm asking. Need to know when I can pay rent.

•Once you get into the rhythm it's pretty predictable though. File Sunday, get paid Wednesday/Thursday every week.

I think there might be differences if you're on standby versus regular UI too. When I was on standby the timing seemed different but I can't remember exactly.

•Standby payments follow the same schedule as regular UI claims. The difference is just in how you report work search activities.

•Good to know, thanks for clarifying that.

Pro tip: set up text alerts with your bank so you know the second your deposit hits. Takes the guesswork out of it.

•Oh that's smart! I'll set that up right now.

•Yeah most banks have that feature now. Really useful for unemployment payments.

Been getting Washington ESD payments for 8 months now and it's been Wednesday like clockwork. Only time it was different was during a holiday week when everything got pushed back a day.

•Good to know about holiday weeks. I'll keep that in mind.

•Yeah holidays definitely mess up the schedule. Sometimes payments come early, sometimes late.

If your payment is ever late you can check your payment history in your SecureAccess Washington account to see if there's a hold or issue.

•How do I access that? I'm still figuring out the website.

•Log into your Washington ESD account, go to 'Claim and Payment Status' and you can see all your payment details there.

I had a situation where my bank account info got messed up and it delayed my payments for two weeks. Washington ESD couldn't tell me what was wrong when I called their regular line - kept getting transferred around. Used that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier and they got me to someone who actually fixed the direct deposit issue right away.

•How much does that service cost?

•I don't remember the exact cost but it was worth it to get my payments fixed instead of waiting weeks for a callback.

For anyone wondering about debit card payments instead of direct deposit - those usually come a day later than direct deposit in my experience.

•Good to know! I'm sticking with direct deposit then.

•Yeah direct deposit is definitely faster than the debit card option.

Just want to confirm what others said - I file Sunday morning, payment shows up Wednesday every single week. Very reliable once you know the pattern.

•Perfect, that's exactly the consistency I was hoping for. Thanks everyone!

One more thing - if you ever have payment issues, document everything. Washington ESD sometimes needs proof of filing dates and stuff like that.
