What day of the week does Washington ESD unemployment pay - still confused about payment schedule
I'm trying to figure out what day of the week Washington ESD actually sends out unemployment payments. I filed my weekly claim on Sunday like I always do, but I'm never sure when the money will actually hit my account. Some people say Tuesday, others say Wednesday, and I've even heard Thursday mentioned. Does anyone know the actual schedule? I'm trying to plan my bills around when the payment comes through.

Washington ESD typically processes payments on Tuesdays, but it depends on your bank. Most people see the money in their account Wednesday morning, sometimes Thursday if your bank is slow with processing.

•Thanks! I have Chase bank - do you know if they're usually fast or slow with these deposits?

•Chase is usually pretty quick, you should see it Wednesday morning most of the time.

•I have Chase too and mine always comes Wednesday around 6am

it depends on when you file your weekly claim too. if you file late on sunday or monday it might delay things by a day

•I always file Sunday evening, usually around 7pm. Should be early enough right?

•yeah that should be fine, the cutoff is usually midnight sunday

The official Washington ESD payment schedule is that they process payments on Tuesday mornings. However, the actual deposit date depends on your financial institution. Most major banks (Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Chase) will show the deposit on Wednesday. Credit unions and smaller banks might take until Thursday. If you're using a prepaid debit card, it could be anywhere from Wednesday to Friday.

•This is super helpful! I didn't realize the bank made such a difference in timing.

•what about if your claim is under adjudication? does that affect payment timing?

•If you're in adjudication, you won't receive any payments until the issue is resolved, regardless of when you file your weekly claims.

I've been dealing with this for months and honestly the timing varies. Sometimes I get paid Tuesday night, sometimes Thursday morning. The Washington ESD system is just inconsistent. If you really need to reach someone to ask about your specific situation, I found this service called Claimyr that actually gets you through to ESD agents by phone. They have a website at claimyr.com and there's a video demo showing how it works at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ. Saved me hours of trying to call myself.

•Interesting, I've never heard of Claimyr before. Does it actually work?

•Yeah it worked for me. I was having issues with my claim status and couldn't get through the regular phone lines. They connected me to an actual ESD agent who cleared up my confusion about payment schedules and adjudication status.

•sounds like a scam to me, why would you pay someone to make a phone call?

•I thought the same thing at first, but when you can't get through for weeks and your benefits are delayed, it's worth it to actually talk to someone who can help.

THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING!!! I've been waiting for my payment for DAYS and Washington ESD gives zero information about when things actually get processed. Why can't they just be transparent about their schedule?

•I feel you, the whole system is frustrating. At least now you know to expect Wednesday/Thursday.

•I guess, but it shouldn't be this confusing. Other states are way more clear about their payment schedules.

•The schedule is actually posted on the ESD website, but it's not very prominent. They do Tuesday processing for most claims.

Quick question - do holiday weeks affect the payment schedule? Like if there's a federal holiday on Monday or Tuesday?
0 coins
Kayla Morgan
•Yes, federal holidays can delay processing by one business day. So if Tuesday is a holiday, they'll likely process on Wednesday instead.
0 coins
Lilly Curtis
•Good to know! I was wondering about that with some of the upcoming holidays.

•Holiday weeks are always confusing. I just plan for payments to be one day later than usual.

I've been on unemployment for 8 months now and here's what I've noticed: if you file your weekly claim before 6pm on Sunday, you'll get paid Wednesday morning. If you file after 6pm Sunday or on Monday, you might not get paid until Thursday. At least that's been my experience with Wells Fargo.

•That's really specific timing - thanks for sharing your experience!

•interesting, i never paid attention to the exact time i filed. might start tracking that

mine always comes wednesday but sometimes it's really early like 3am, other times it's not until afternoon. same bank every time so i think it just depends on when esd actually sends the batch

Lilly Curtis
•Yeah the timing within the day seems random. As long as it's the right day I guess.

•I've noticed that too - sometimes it's there first thing in the morning, sometimes not until later.

Just to clarify for anyone reading this - Washington ESD processes payments in batches on Tuesday mornings, usually between 6am-10am. The funds are then sent to your bank via ACH transfer. Most banks post ACH deposits the next business day, which is why most people see their unemployment payment on Wednesday. Some banks post faster, some slower, but Wednesday is the most common.

•This is exactly the kind of detailed explanation I was looking for - thank you!

•what if you have direct deposit with a credit union? same timeline?

Leo Simmons
•Credit unions vary more than big banks. Some are faster, some slower. I'd say Wednesday to Thursday is typical for credit unions.

Does anyone know if the payment schedule is different for standby claims vs regular unemployment claims?
0 coins
Kayla Morgan
•No, the payment schedule is the same regardless of claim type. Standby, regular UI, all get processed on the same Tuesday schedule.

Arnav Bengali
•Good to know, thanks! I wasn't sure if standby had different processing.

Update: I just called Washington ESD and actually got through (miracle!) and they confirmed that payments are processed Tuesdays and most people should see them Wednesday. The agent also mentioned that if you're having trouble getting through to them, there are services that can help with that, which matches what someone mentioned earlier about Claimyr.

Lilly Curtis
•Wow, you actually got through! How long did you wait on hold?

Scarlett Forster
•About 45 minutes, but I called right when they opened at 8am. Definitely worth the wait to get official confirmation.

•That's great you got through! The Claimyr thing I mentioned earlier really does work if you can't get through the regular way.

PSA: if your payment is more than 2 business days late, something might be wrong with your claim. Check your ESD account for any alerts or messages. Sometimes they put a hold on payments for verification reasons.

Lilly Curtis
•Good point - I always forget to check my account when payments are late.

James Maki
•Yeah I learned this the hard way. Had a payment hold for two weeks because I didn't see a message asking for employment verification.

•Exactly! Always check your account first before assuming it's just a normal delay.

So the consensus seems to be: file weekly claim by Sunday evening, expect payment Wednesday morning (sometimes Thursday), and check your account if it's later than that. Does that sound right?

Kayla Morgan
•That's a good summary. And remember holidays can push everything back by one day.

Lilly Curtis
•Perfect summary! This whole thread has been really educational.

•Yep, that covers the basics. Most payment questions come down to these timing issues.

One more thing - if you're job searching and need to report contacts, make sure you do that before filing your weekly claim. Sometimes that can delay processing if you forget to update your job search log.

Lilly Curtis
•Good reminder! I always do my job search log on Saturday so it's ready for Sunday.

Roger Romero
•wait, you have to report job contacts? i thought that was optional...

•Job search requirements depend on your specific situation, but most people do need to log contacts. Check your account for your specific requirements.

Just want to mention again that if anyone is having trouble reaching Washington ESD about payment issues or any other problems, Claimyr really does work. I used it twice now and both times got connected to actual ESD agents who could help. Their website is claimyr.com if you want to check it out.

This might be a dumb question but does the time of day you file your weekly claim matter? Like is there a better time to file to get faster processing?

Lindsey Fry
•From my experience, filing earlier on Sunday seems to help, but I'm not sure if it's official policy.

•The official cutoff is Sunday at midnight, but filing earlier in the day probably ensures you're in the first batch they process.
