What does it mean when my Washington ESD unemployment claim says processed?

I submitted my weekly claim on Sunday and when I check my account today it shows 'processed' under the status. This is only my second week filing and I'm not sure what this means exactly. Does processed mean I'm getting paid or does it just mean they received it? My first payment took forever to show up and I'm trying to figure out if I should expect money soon or if there's still more waiting involved. Anyone know what processed actually means in the Washington ESD system?

Processed usually means they've reviewed your weekly claim and determined you're eligible for that week. You should see the payment hit your account within 1-2 business days if you have direct deposit set up.

Thanks! I do have direct deposit so hopefully it shows up tomorrow.

0 coins

yeah processed is good news, means you cleared all the requirements for that week

0 coins

Processed means your weekly claim went through successfully. If there were any issues with your job search contacts or work search activities, it would show a different status like 'under review' or 'pending'.

0 coins

That's a relief! I was worried I messed something up with the job search log.

The job search requirements can be tricky at first but you get used to it

I've been dealing with Washington ESD for months and getting through to verify claim statuses used to be impossible. Found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that actually gets you through to a real person. They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ showing how it works. Saved me hours of calling and getting hung up on.

How much does something like that cost? Seems like you shouldn't have to pay extra just to talk to Washington ESD.

0 coins

I thought the same thing but honestly the time saved was worth it. Plus they actually get results when you need to talk to someone about your claim.

0 coins

interesting, might look into this if i have issues with my next claim

0 coins

Just to clarify - when you see processed, that's different from 'paid' status. Processed means approved, paid means the money has been sent out. You'll see both statuses update as the payment goes through.

0 coins

Good to know the difference, I'll watch for the paid status too.

0 coins

Exactly right. The status progression is usually: Submitted → Processed → Paid → Deposited

0 coins

been filing for 8 weeks now and processed always means you're good to go. if there was a problem it would say something else like disqualified or under adjudication

0 coins

What does under adjudication mean? Just in case I see that later.

0 coins

Adjudication means they need to investigate something about your claim - could be work separation issues, eligibility questions, or if they need to verify information you provided.

0 coins

yeah adjudication is when things get complicated and you might need to wait weeks for them to decide

0 coins

I'm paranoid about everything with unemployment so I screenshot every status change. Processed is definitely good news though, means no red flags with your weekly certification.

0 coins

smart to keep screenshots, washington esd system can be glitchy sometimes

0 coins

I should start doing that too, thanks for the tip!

0 coins

The whole system is confusing as hell. Why can't they just say 'approved for payment' instead of 'processed'? Makes everyone worry for no reason.

0 coins

I agree the terminology could be clearer. 'Processed' sounds like they just received it, not that they approved it.

0 coins

government systems are never user-friendly, just how it is unfortunately

0 coins

if you're still worried about it you can always call washington esd but good luck getting through lol

0 coins

That's exactly why I mentioned Claimyr earlier - calling Washington ESD directly is a nightmare. At least with a service like that you can actually reach someone.

0 coins

I've tried calling so many times and either get busy signal or they hang up after an hour on hold

0 coins

For future reference, here are the common weekly claim statuses you might see: Submitted (they received it), Processed (approved for payment), Paid (payment issued), Under Review (they're checking something), Disqualified (not eligible that week). Processed is what you want to see.

0 coins

This is super helpful, thank you! I'm going to save this list.

0 coins

wish they explained this stuff better on their website

0 coins

Processed means you passed all their checks for that week - work search, availability, not working too many hours, etc. You should get paid within a couple days.

0 coins

Perfect, that's exactly what I was hoping to hear!

0 coins

yeah as long as you see processed you're golden for that week

0 coins

I remember being confused about this too when I first started filing. Processed definitely means good news - they've approved your weekly claim and payment is on the way.

0 coins

Thanks! It's reassuring to know other people were confused by this too.

0 coins

we've all been there, the system isn't very intuitive

0 coins

Just make sure you keep doing your job search activities even after you see processed. Some people think processed means they can slack off but Washington ESD can audit your job search log anytime.

0 coins

Good point, I'll make sure to keep up with the job searches.

0 coins

Yes, the job search requirement is ongoing for as long as you're claiming benefits.

0 coins

processed status is your friend! means no issues with your claim that week and money should hit your account soon

0 coins

Awesome, thanks for the confirmation!

0 coins

I had a week where it said processed but then changed to under review later because they had questions about one of my job contacts. So processed is usually final but keep an eye on it just in case.

0 coins

Oh wow, I didn't know they could change it after. I'll definitely keep checking.

0 coins

That's pretty rare but it can happen if they spot-check your job search activities and find issues.

0 coins

When I had questions about my claim status, I used that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier and it was actually really helpful. The wait time to talk to Washington ESD was brutal before I found that.

0 coins

Did they help you figure out why your status changed or just connect you to ESD?

0 coins

They got me through to an actual Washington ESD rep who could look at my account and explain what was happening with my claim.

0 coins

Bottom line - processed means approved. If you see that status, your payment is coming. Don't overthink it!

0 coins

Thanks everyone! This has been super helpful. I feel much better about seeing 'processed' now.

0 coins

glad we could help! we've all been in your shoes trying to figure this stuff out

0 coins

I've been filing weekly claims for 6 months and processed always means payment approved. Usually see the deposit within 24-48 hours after that status shows up.

0 coins

Perfect timing on this thread then! I'll look for the deposit tomorrow.

0 coins

Yes, processed is definitely the status you want to see each week.

0 coins

For anyone else reading this later - processed = good news, your weekly claim was approved and payment is being sent out. Any other status usually means there's some kind of issue or delay.

0 coins

this should be pinned somewhere for new claimants to see

0 coins

Agreed, would save a lot of confusion if Washington ESD explained their status terms better.

0 coins

just wanted to add that if you ever need to call washington esd about claim issues, that claimyr thing actually works. saved me from spending all day trying to get through on the phone

0 coins

Good to know there's a backup option if I run into problems later!

0 coins

yeah the regular phone number is basically useless with how busy they are

0 coins

Processed means you're all set for that week! Congrats on getting through your second weekly claim. It gets easier once you get into the routine.

0 coins

Thanks! I'm already feeling more confident about the process.

0 coins

Definitely! I was so stressed about my first few claims but now it's just part of my weekly routine. The key is keeping good records of your job search activities so you don't have to scramble when filing each week.
