What day do you get your unemployment check from Washington ESD?
I just filed my first weekly claim with Washington ESD and I'm wondering what day unemployment payments actually hit your account? I filed on Sunday night and my claim shows approved but no payment date. Does it come on a specific day of the week or does it vary? Really need to know so I can plan my bills around it.

Usually takes 2-3 business days after you file your weekly claim. If you filed Sunday night, you should see it by Wednesday or Thursday. Make sure your direct deposit info is set up correctly in your Washington ESD account.

•Thanks! Yeah I have direct deposit set up. Just wasn't sure about the timing.

•Mine always comes on Tuesday if I file Sunday night, but I've been on UI for 6 months now

Payment timing depends on when you file and if there are any issues with your claim. Most people get paid within 2-3 business days if everything is clean. Holiday weeks can delay it by a day.

•Good to know about holidays. My claim is straightforward so hopefully no delays.

•What if your claim gets flagged for review? How long does that take?

•If it goes to adjudication it can take weeks. That's different from regular payment processing though.

I've been trying to get through to Washington ESD for weeks about my payment schedule. Their phone lines are impossible! Anyone know a better way to reach them?

•Have you tried calling right at 8am when they open? That's usually the best time.

•I actually found this service called Claimyr that helps you get through to Washington ESD agents. They handle the calling for you and you get a callback when they reach someone. Check out claimyr.com - they have a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works.

•Really? That sounds too good to be true. Does it actually work?

•Yeah I was skeptical too but it worked for me. Got through to an agent in like 30 minutes instead of spending hours on hold.

PAYMENT SCHEDULE IS A JOKE! Been waiting 4 days for my check and my rent is due. Washington ESD doesn't care about people's bills!

•4 days isn't unusual if you filed on a Friday. Weekend doesn't count as business days.

•Still ridiculous that we have to wait so long when we need the money NOW

For new claims, the first payment can take longer - sometimes up to a week. After that it's usually more predictable. Make sure you're filing on the same day each week to keep a consistent schedule.

•That makes sense. I'll plan to file every Sunday night then.

•Why Sunday night? Is that the best day?

•You can file starting Sunday for the previous week. Earlier is usually better to avoid system slowdowns.

What happens if the payment doesn't show up when expected? Should I panic or wait longer?

•Give it at least 5 business days before contacting Washington ESD. Sometimes bank processing adds delays.

•Good to know. I always worry something went wrong with my claim.

•Check your payment history in your account first. It'll show if the payment was issued even if your bank hasn't posted it yet.

Update on the Claimyr thing - I tried it yesterday and actually got through to Washington ESD! The agent confirmed my payment schedule and fixed an issue with my account. Definitely worth it if you're having trouble reaching them.

•How much does it cost?

•They don't require any upfront payment info which was nice. Just worked exactly like the demo showed.

•Might have to try this myself. Been trying to call for 2 weeks about my job search requirements.

Does the day matter if you have a debit card vs direct deposit?

Daniel Washington
•The ESD debit card usually loads faster than bank direct deposit in my experience.

•That's what I figured. Might switch to the card then.

Been on unemployment for 8 months and Tuesday is my day every single week. File Sunday night, paid by Tuesday morning like clockwork.

•That's exactly what I'm hoping for - just want consistency so I can budget.

•Same here but mine comes Wednesday. Depends on your bank probably.

Quick question - if I file late in the week will it delay my payment to the following week?
0 coins
Anthony Young
•No, you'll still get paid that week as long as you file before the deadline. Just might be Thursday or Friday instead of Tuesday/Wednesday.

Mia Alvarez
•Perfect, thanks for clarifying that.

Anyone else notice payments seem slower during the first week of the month? Maybe just coincidence but mine always seems delayed then.

Sophia Long
•Probably just higher volume at the beginning of the month with everyone filing claims.

•That would make sense. System probably gets bogged down.

Update: Used Claimyr like someone mentioned and got through to Washington ESD today. Agent explained that payments process Monday-Friday only, so weekend filings get processed starting Monday. Really helpful to finally talk to someone who could explain the timing!

Lauren Zeb
•That's really good info! So filing Friday vs Sunday doesn't really matter then.
0 coins
Amelia Cartwright
•Exactly. As long as you file by the weekly deadline you're good. The agent also said they batch process payments so that's why everyone gets them around the same time.

Is there a way to see exactly when your payment will hit before it actually does?

•Your payment history in the Washington ESD account shows when payments are issued, but your bank might take additional time to post it.

•I'll check that section. Never really looked at the payment history before.
