Washington ESD unemployment while on medical leave - is this allowed?
I've been out of work for 6 weeks on medical leave through FMLA but my short-term disability benefits just ended. My doctor says I still can't return to work for at least another month. Can I file for Washington ESD unemployment benefits while I'm still technically on medical leave? I'm confused about whether being unable to work due to medical reasons disqualifies me from UI benefits. My employer hasn't terminated me yet but I'm not sure how much longer they'll hold my position.
