Need ESD security department phone number for identity verification issue

I'm stuck in this endless loop with my unemployment claim. Someone at the ESD call center told me I need to contact the 'security department' to resolve an identity verification issue that's holding up my claim. But they didn't give me the actual phone number! Has anyone dealt with this security department before? What's their direct line? I've been waiting 5 weeks already and can't get through on the main line anymore. Getting desperate here as rent is coming up.

There isn't actually a direct number for the security department that claimants can call. It's super frustrating! When they flag your account for ID verification, you have to call the main ESD number (800-318-6022) and specifically tell them you're calling about an identity verification issue. They should transfer you to the right department. What worked for me was calling right when they open at 8am.

Ugh seriously?? I've been calling that number for DAYS and can't get through! They just disconnect me after 30 mins on hold saying 'call volume too high' every single time. How did you actually get a human??

I went through this exact nightmare last month. The "security department" isn't something you can call directly - it's an internal team that handles ID verification. You need to get through to a regular agent first who can then transfer you OR escalate your case to them. I finally got through using Claimyr (claimyr.com) - they have a system that holds your place in line and calls you back when an agent is available. Saved me hours of frustration! They have a video demo here: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3

If ur dealing with identity verification u need 2 upload ur docs asap thru ur esd account. Click on the 'upload documents' section. I had 2 submit my driver license, ssn card, AND a utility bill 2 prove my identity. Do that BEFORE calling again or they'll just tell u to do that anyway. security dept reviews those docs!

Thanks! I did upload all that stuff already - license, SS card, birth certificate, even my W-2. They told me everything is uploaded but stuck in review and I need to CALL to get it processed faster. That's why I'm trying to find the direct number!

The ESD system is COMPLETELY BROKEN by design!!! They make it impossible to reach anyone because they don't WANT to pay out benefits. I spent TWO MONTHS trying to get past this "security review" garbage. There is NO direct number - that's the WHOLE POINT! They tell you to call a department that regular people can't actually reach. It's a SCAM to delay your benefits until you give up!!!

While I understand your frustration, this isn't entirely accurate. The security protocols were enhanced after the massive fraud issues during the pandemic. The verification processes can be slow and frustrating, but they're not designed to prevent legitimate claims. They're trying to prevent fraud while processing a high volume of claims with limited staff.

9 WEEKS?!? I cannot wait that long! Did calling eventually help speed things up or did it just resolve on its own?

There's a specific process for identity verification issues. Here's what you need to know: 1. There is no direct public number for the security department 2. You must call the main ESD number (800-318-6022) 3. When prompted by the automated system, select the option for claim questions 4. When you reach an agent, specifically state you have an identity verification issue that needs escalation 5. They can either transfer you or note your account for expedited review Timing matters - try calling Tuesday-Thursday between 8:00-8:30am or 4:00-4:30pm when volumes are typically lower. Make sure all your documents are already uploaded in your eServices account before calling.

Thank you for the detailed steps! I'm going to try the Tuesday morning approach since it's already late in the week. Fingers crossed I can get through this time.

I just wanted to follow up - were you able to reach them? I know how stressful this waiting period can be, especially with bills piling up. If the morning calling isn't working, definitely consider that Claimyr service I mentioned. It's what finally got me through after weeks of trying.

I tried this morning and still couldn't get through. I'm going to try that Claimyr thing tomorrow - at this point I'll try anything! Thanks for checking back.

One more thing to try - send a message through your eServices account specifically asking about the status of your identity verification. Sometimes that can flag your account for review. Just be super specific in the subject line like "Urgent - Identity Verification Hold - 5 Weeks Without Benefits" - that helped in my case!

Just did that right now! I'm trying everything at this point. This whole process is so frustrating.

i hate to say this but my claim was stuck for almost 3 months!! i called every day for weeks. then i contacted my state representative's office and suddenly my claim was fixed in 2 days. might be worth trying if nothing else works

This is actually excellent advice. Your state representatives have liaisons who can directly contact ESD on your behalf. This is particularly helpful for claims stuck in identity verification or adjudication for extended periods. Just visit your state legislature's website to find your representatives and their contact information.
