How long does it take to get payment from Washington ESD unemployment benefits?
I just got approved for unemployment after waiting 2 weeks for adjudication and I'm wondering how long it usually takes to actually receive the payment once you're approved? I filed my first weekly claim yesterday and my account shows it was processed but I don't see any payment dates yet. I'm really stressed about bills and need to know if I should expect it in a few days or if it takes longer. Does anyone know the typical timeline for Washington ESD payments to hit your account?

Usually takes 2-3 business days after your weekly claim is processed. Make sure you have direct deposit set up because paper checks take way longer - like 7-10 days.

•I do have direct deposit setup so that's good. Thanks for the timeline, that helps ease my anxiety a bit.

It depends on your bank too. Some banks hold the funds for a day or two even after Washington ESD sends the payment. I use a credit union and usually get mine on Wednesdays if I file my weekly claim on Sunday.

•I have Bank of America - do you know if they usually hold unemployment payments?

•BoA usually processes them pretty quick in my experience, you should be fine

Been dealing with Washington ESD for months now and honestly the payment timing is inconsistent. Sometimes it's 2 days, sometimes it's 5. If you need to talk to someone about your specific case, I found this service called Claimyr that actually gets you through to a real person at Washington ESD. Check out claimyr.com - they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works. Way better than trying to call yourself and getting disconnected 50 times.

•Interesting, never heard of that service before. Does it actually work or is it just another scam?

•It's legit - I was skeptical too but they got me connected to an agent in about 20 minutes when I couldn't get through on my own for weeks.

•How much does something like that cost though?

The payment schedule is pretty predictable once you get into the rhythm. File your weekly claim by Sunday night, payment processes Monday/Tuesday, hits your account by Wednesday or Thursday. First payment might take a little longer though.

•That's exactly what I needed to know, thank you! So I should expect it by Thursday this week hopefully.

make sure you check your payment history in your Washington ESD account too, sometimes the payment shows up there before it hits your bank

•Good tip! I'll keep checking that section.

I've been waiting 6 days for my payment and it's driving me crazy. Filed my weekly claim last Sunday and still nothing. Called Washington ESD like 30 times and can't get through to anyone.

•That's definitely longer than normal. Is there any issue showing on your account like a pending issue or something?

Jungleboo Soletrain
•No issues showing, just says payment issued but nothing in my bank account yet

•This is exactly the kind of situation where Claimyr would help - you need to talk to someone to figure out where your payment is stuck.

holidays can mess up the timing too, just fyi. if theres a federal holiday during the week your payment might be delayed

•Good point, I didn't think about that factor.

Also make sure your direct deposit info is correct in your account. I had a friend who was waiting weeks for payments and turns out she had the wrong routing number entered.

•How do I double check that? I'm worried maybe that's my issue too

•Log into your Washington ESD account and go to payment methods, you can verify your bank info there

The whole system is so slow and frustrating. I remember when I first started getting benefits it took almost a week for my first payment even though everything was approved.

•That's nerve wracking but at least you eventually got it. Gives me hope mine will come through soon.

One more thing - make sure you're filing your weekly claims on time every week. If you miss the deadline it can delay future payments even if you file late.

Hattie Carson
•What's the deadline? I thought you just had to file before the next Sunday.

•You have until 11:59pm on Sunday to file for that week. After that it's considered late and can cause issues.

•That's reassuring to hear it gets more predictable!

just wanted to say hang in there, the waiting for that first payment is the worst part but once you get into the routine its not too bad

If you're really desperate and need to know what's going on with your payment, you might want to try that Claimyr thing someone mentioned earlier. I used it last month when my payment was delayed and they got me through to someone who could see my payment was held up for identity verification that I didn't even know about.

•That's exactly what I'm worried about - some hidden issue I don't know about. Maybe I should look into that service.

Just to clarify the timeline again since there's been some confusion - Washington ESD typically processes weekly claims Monday through Tuesday, then sends payments Tuesday through Wednesday. Most people see the money in their account Wednesday or Thursday if they have direct deposit.

•Perfect summary, thank you. I'll watch for it Wednesday/Thursday this week.

also dont panic if your first payment seems like a weird amount, mine included backpay from the waiting week and other stuff so it was more than i expected

Washington ESD payments have been pretty reliable for me. The only time I had issues was when there was some kind of system maintenance and everything got delayed by a day.

Hattie Carson
•Do they usually announce when they're doing maintenance that might affect payments?

•Sometimes they post notices on the website but not always. Usually its not a big deal though.

Make sure you save your confirmation number when you file your weekly claim. If there are any issues with your payment you'll need that number when you call.

•Good tip, I did save it just in case.

The waiting is definitely the hardest part especially when you have bills due. But in my experience Washington ESD is pretty reliable once everything is set up correctly.

One last thing - if you end up needing to contact Washington ESD about payment issues, try calling right when they open at 8am or during lunch time around noon. Those seem to be the best times to actually get through.

•Thanks for the tip! Hopefully I won't need to call but good to know just in case.

•Or just use Claimyr and skip the hassle of trying to time your calls perfectly. Much less stressful.
