How long after ESD expedited my claim via Governor's office intervention until I get paid?
Feeling completely desperate after 7 weeks with no income, I finally contacted the Governor's office last Thursday about my stuck claim. This morning I got a call from someone at ESD saying my claim was being 'expedited' but they couldn't tell me exactly when I'd see money. They just said it was now 'in process' and I should watch my account. Has anyone gone through this expedited process before? How many more days should I expect to wait? I'm down to my last $87 and rent is due next week. Really need to know if I should borrow money or if the payment will actually come through soon.

When my claim got expedited after the Governor's intervention, it took exactly 3 business days for the money to hit my account. They processed all my back weeks at once. Make sure your payment method is set up correctly in eServices - direct deposit is faster than the debit card option. Also, double check that you don't have any "Issues and Decisions" showing in your account that might hold things up even after expediting.

•Thank you so much! That gives me hope. I just checked and there aren't any issues showing in my account, and I'm set up for direct deposit. Fingers crossed it comes through by Friday then!

•Oh no, seriously? 2 more weeks would be devastating. Did they at least tell you it would take that long, or did they leave you hanging?

I worked for ESD during the pandemic, and while I can't speak to current timelines exactly, I can tell you that "expedited" claims typically move to the front of the adjudication queue. The timeline depends on why your claim was held up in the first place. If it was a simple identity verification or employer response issue that's been resolved, you might see payment in 2-5 business days. If there's a more complex issue requiring review of documents or additional verification, it could take 5-10 business days even when expedited. One thing to note: calling them back won't speed things up and might actually slow the process down as staff get pulled to answer phones instead of processing claims. Your best bet is to keep checking your eServices account daily.

•Thank you for the insider perspective! They told me it was held up because my former employer disputed my hours (even though I submitted my paystubs). The ESD person who called said that issue was now resolved in my favor, so hopefully that means it's on the faster timeline you mentioned.

•That's good news! Since they've already made the determination in your favor, I'd expect payment sooner rather than later. Employer disputes that are resolved don't require additional processing time once the decision is made. Just make sure all your weekly claims are filed correctly while waiting.

Mine took 4 days after the governor office thing. But my brother-in-law waited almost 3 weeks for the same thing last month so who knows honestly

THEY LIE ABOUT EVERYTHING!!!! I got the exact same "expedited" promise after I contacted my state representative (not governor). Three weeks later STILL NOTHING so I called again and they claimed they had "no record" of my claim being expedited!!! Had to start the whole process over again and it was ANOTHER two weeks. ESD is completely broken and they just tell people whatever to get them off the phone.

•Actually this isn't entirely accurate. Expedited doesn't mean instant, it means prioritized. There's a difference between claims getting expedited after elected official involvement versus regular adjudication. I've seen dozens of cases go through this process successfully, but the timeline varies based on claim complexity and current backlog. Calling repeatedly can actually push your claim back in the queue as it gets reassigned with each call.

I had to do this back in January when my claim got stuck for 9 weeks! After the governor's office stepped in, I got paid in 5 days. My cousin went through the same thing in March and got paid in 4 days. It seems pretty consistent once they actually expedite it. Hang in there!!!

Have you tried using Claimyr to get through to ESD directly? I was in the same situation last month and spent days trying to get through on the phone without success. A friend recommended Claimyr (claimyr.com) and I got through to an actual ESD agent in about 15 minutes. The agent was able to tell me exactly what was happening with my expedited claim and gave me a specific timeline for payment. They have a video demo that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Might be worth trying if you need more specific info about your expedited claim status.

•I've never heard of that service before. Does it really work? I've been calling ESD directly and just getting the automated message that call volume is too high.

•Yes, it worked for me when nothing else did. The regular ESD line is basically impossible to get through on. With Claimyr I was actually able to speak to someone who could see my file and tell me exactly what was happening with the expedited process. Definitely worth it when you're in limbo waiting for thousands in back benefits.

UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know I got my payment this morning - took exactly 4 business days after the expedite call! All back weeks paid at once. If anyone else is stuck in adjudication hell, definitely contact your state rep or the governor's office. It really works!
