ESD approved some employers but not all - will I get paid while one is still pending?

I'm in a weird limbo with my ESD claim and don't know what to expect next. I quit jobs in multiple states (3 employers total) and had pending issues for all of them. Yesterday, I received approval letters for 2 of the employers stating my reasons for quitting were reasonable and I'm eligible for benefits. However, I haven't received anything about the 3rd employer yet. All 5 of my weekly claims still show as 'pending' status. Does anyone know if ESD will start paying me now that most employers are approved, or do I have to wait until they make a decision about that last employer too? The approval letters for the first 2 arrived on the same day, which seemed promising. Just trying to figure out if I should expect payment soon or keep waiting indefinitely. This whole multi-state claim situation is stressing me out!

Unfortunately, ESD typically won't release any payments until ALL pending issues are resolved. Even with 2 out of 3 employers approved, they'll likely hold everything until they make a determination on that last employer. The system is designed to resolve the entire claim before releasing funds. I went through something similar last year with multiple employers, and they didn't pay anything until every single issue was cleared. Have you tried calling them to check the status of that third employer's adjudication?

Ugh, that's what I was afraid of. No, I haven't been able to get through on the phone. I've tried calling every day this week but just get the 'high call volume' message and get disconnected. I'll keep trying though. Do you know if there's any way to check the status of that specific adjudication online?

3 more weeks?? I can't wait that long! Bills are piling up already. Did your cousin do anything to speed up the process?

Based on my experience with the ESD system, they need to clear all pending issues before releasing any payments. The good news is that since they've already approved similar separation reasons for your other employers, there's a good chance they'll approve the final one too. I'd recommend checking your online account daily for updates and also sending a secure message through your ESD portal specifically asking about the timeline for the remaining employer adjudication. Make sure to include your claim ID number and the specific employer you're asking about. In the meantime, continue filing your weekly claims without interruption.

Thank you! I've been filing my weekly claims religiously. I'll try sending a secure message today. Do you know how long they typically take to respond to messages? And should I keep calling too or just wait for the message response?

I've been in your exact position and the waiting is brutal. ESD won't release ANY payments until every single issue is resolved - it's their standard procedure. While you're waiting, have you tried using Claimyr to get through to an ESD agent? I was stuck in pending for weeks until I used their service at claimyr.com and they got me connected to an actual person who could tell me exactly what was holding up my claim. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Honestly it saved me weeks of waiting and stressing - the agent was able to expedite my final pending issue once I actually got through to them.

I've never heard of Claimyr before. Does it really work? I'm desperate to talk to an actual human at ESD at this point. I'll check out that video - thanks for the suggestion!

YEP!!! happened to me after waiting 6 freaking weeks!! they approved 2 jobs then denied the 3rd one for some BS reason about "insufficient documentation" even though I sent them everything they asked for. ended up having to appeal and wait ANOTHER month. the whole system is rigged to make people give up.

One thing to keep in mind is that multi-state claims are notoriously more complicated and take longer to process. Since you mentioned employers in different states, ESD has to coordinate with those other state unemployment agencies, which adds time. The good news is that once they do approve everything, you should get backpay for all those pending weeks at once. Make sure you're answering any requests for information promptly and checking both your online portal and physical mail for any notices requiring action from you.

I didn't realize the multi-state aspect made it even more complicated. That explains a lot! I've been checking my mail obsessively and responding to everything immediately. I guess I just need to be patient, but it's hard when you're watching your bank account dwindle.

Just to clarify some information here - ESD's official policy is that all issues must be resolved before payment can be released. However, they sometimes do partial approvals in certain circumstances. If your claim involves multiple employers but you have enough qualifying hours/wages from just the approved employers to establish a valid claim, they might release payment for those while continuing to investigate the other employer. This is not guaranteed though, and depends on your specific situation and the claims examiner handling your case. If you're facing financial hardship, make sure to mention this in any communication with ESD - there are sometimes options to expedite claims based on hardship.

That's really helpful information, thank you! I definitely have enough qualifying hours just from the two approved employers. I'll mention the financial hardship in my secure message and see if that helps. I'm getting really worried about making rent next month.

Update on your situation? I'm curious if you've had any progress. Did you try contacting them?

Good news! I finally got through to someone yesterday using that Claimyr service someone mentioned. The agent told me they were just waiting on some verification from the third employer, but since they didn't respond within the required timeframe, they're going to proceed with payment based on the two approved employers! Should see money in my account within 48 hours. What a relief! Definitely worth the effort to actually speak to someone directly.

That's fantastic news! So glad you were able to get through and resolve it. I'm going through something similar right now with 2 pending employers, so this gives me hope. Did the Claimyr service cost anything? And how long did it take them to connect you to an agent? I've been trying the regular ESD number for weeks with no luck.
