ESD adjudication update: Employer finally responded to wage verification request!
Just wanted to share some positive progress in my never-ending adjudication saga! After being stuck in adjudication for over 7 weeks (feels like forever), I called my previous employer today to see if they'd heard anything from ESD. They told me ESD contacted them on June 1st requesting wage/employment verification, and they've already submitted everything back. I didn't even know this was part of the process, but I'm taking it as a good sign! Has anyone else had their employer contacted for verification during adjudication? How much longer should I expect to wait now that this step is complete? My savings are getting dangerously low and I'm starting to panic a little, but at least there's movement happening.

That's definitely progress! When my claim was in adjudication back in January, my employer was also contacted for verification. It took about 10 days after they responded for my claim to be approved. The whole thing depends on your specific issue though - what's the reason you're in adjudication? If it's just standard employment verification, you might see movement soon. If there are other issues (like voluntary quit or misconduct questions), it could take longer.

•Thanks for the timeline! My situation is that I was laid off due to "business restructuring" but there were some discrepancies in my reported wages vs what the employer reported on their quarterly tax forms. I'm hoping since this was just a verification request and not a misconduct investigation, it might go faster? 10 days sounds amazing compared to the 7+ weeks I've already waited!

•Same here! I was in adjudication for 11 weeks total. The verification with my employer happened somewhere in the middle, but then it just sat there for weeks more. I think they're really understaffed after all the pandemic layoffs to their department.

Have you tried calling ESD directly to check on your claim status? I was stuck in adjudication for 5 weeks until I finally got through to someone who actually looked at my file and realized it was just sitting in a queue. Sometimes your claim needs a human to push it along. I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an ESD agent after weeks of busy signals and disconnections. They have this service that basically holds your place in line and calls you when an agent is available. Saved me hours of redial frustration. They have a video demo that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 It's worth it just to get a status update and see if there's anything else they need from you before they can make a determination.

•I've tried calling ESD about 50 times in the past three weeks with no luck. Either get the busy signal or the automated message saying call volume is too high. I'll check out that Claimyr service - at this point I'd try anything to actually speak to a human at ESD! Thanks for the suggestion.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but wage verification is usually just one step in the process. After that's done, they might need to interview you, the employer, or both. When I was in adjudication earlier this year, they verified my wages first, then scheduled an interview with me 3 weeks later, then made a determination 2 weeks after that. The whole process took almost 3 months. Have you checked your online account to see if there are any alerts or messages about scheduled phone interviews? They sometimes send those with very little notice.

•Oh no, I was hoping this meant I was near the end! I've been checking my online account daily and haven't seen any interview requests yet. Does ESD notify you by email when they schedule interviews or do I need to keep logging in to check? Their communication system is so frustrating!

•They're supposed to send emails, but their system is unreliable. I'd recommend checking your online account at least once a day. Also check your spam folder regularly. My interview notification went to spam and I almost missed it! If you miss a scheduled interview, it can delay your claim by weeks.

This is actually great news! Wage verification is often one of the last steps before approval, especially if it's a straightforward layoff. The current ESD processing timeline shows most claims are resolved within 2-3 weeks after employer verification is complete, unless there are complex eligibility issues. Make sure you're still filing your weekly claims during this time - even though you're not getting paid yet, you'll receive all back payments once approved. Also double-check that you've uploaded all your identification documents in the secure portal. Missing ID verification is a common reason for additional delays. What reason code appears under your adjudication status? That can tell us more about where you are in the process.

•Thanks for the positive perspective! The reason code says "104 - Wage investigation" and there's nothing else listed. I've definitely been filing my weekly claims religiously, and my ID was verified back in April when I first applied. I uploaded my driver's license, passport, and social security card just to be sure. Fingers crossed that 2-3 week timeline applies to my case!

my neighbor works at ESD (not supposed to tell anyone lol) but he says they're processing claims from May right now because they're so backed up. June claims r probably sitting in a digital pile somewhere. not trying to bum u out but just so u know what's happening behind the scenes. the verification is good but don't hold ur breath for fast processing after

•This doesn't sound accurate. ESD doesn't process claims strictly by date - they categorize them by issue type and priority. A simple wage verification claim from June might be processed before a complex voluntary quit issue from May. Please be careful about spreading information that might not be correct.

I had almost the exact same situation last year! My previous employer was contacted for wage verification after I'd been in adjudication for about 6 weeks. Once they responded, my claim was approved just 8 days later. I think you're very close to getting a determination. One thing that might help speed things up is to make sure your job search activities are being entered correctly each week. I've heard that claims with perfect job search logs get prioritized because they're easier to process. Not sure if that's true, but it can't hurt!

•That's really encouraging to hear! I've been super careful with my job search logs - documenting all 3 activities each week with full contact details and notes about each application. If that helps prioritize my claim, even better! Really hoping I'm in that 8-day window now that verification is complete.

You know what's CRAZY about this whole system?? They make US wait weeks or MONTHS for a decision while they take their sweet time, but if we miss ONE weekly claim filing or are ONE DAY late with submitting job search proof, they immediately disqualify us! The double standard is infuriating. Why doesn't anyone hold ESD accountable for their processing times?? Anyway, sorry for the rant. Hope your claim gets processed soon. At least there's movement happening.
