Direct number for ESD adjudication department? Claim stuck for 8 weeks

I've been going absolutely crazy trying to get someone in adjudication to look at my claim. It's been 8 weeks now with my claim showing 'adjudication in progress' and I'm completely out of savings. Regular ESD customer service just tells me to wait but they can't transfer me or give me a specific number for the adjudication department. Does anyone know if there's a direct line or some secret way to reach the actual adjudicators who are handling my case? I've tried calling the main number about 20 times already and I'm just getting generic responses that don't help. Getting desperate here!

Unfortunately there's no direct number for the adjudication department. The adjudicators are the ones who have to contact you, not the other way around. I was in the same boat last year - stuck in adjudication for nearly 10 weeks! The regular ESD agents don't have the ability to transfer you to adjudication or even message them directly. It's incredibly frustrating, I know.

10 WEEKS?? You've got to be kidding me. How am I supposed to pay my bills? This is outrageous. Did you ever figure out why it took so long?

I got through to someone who could actually help after weeks of failed attempts by using Claimyr (claimyr.com). They helped me connect with an ESD agent within about 40 minutes instead of dealing with busy signals and disconnects all day. The agent was able to see exactly why my claim was stuck in adjudication and gave me specific information about what documents I needed to upload to move things along. They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. It was honestly worth it after I had wasted weeks trying to get through on my own.

Does this actually work? I'm skeptical about anything that claims to get you through to ESD faster since their phone system is basically designed to prevent people from reaching agents.

THere is NO direct number for adjudicators. The system is DESIGNED this way on purpose to make it harder for people to get benefits!!! I waited 13 WEEKS in adjudication and then they denied me for some bs reason. The best thing you can do is contact your state representative!!!! They can sometimes put pressure on ESD to look at your claim faster. Google your district and email ALL your reps explaining the hardship!!

This is solid advice about contacting your state representatives. They have liaisons who work directly with ESD and can sometimes get your claim escalated. Make sure you include your claim ID number, last four of your SSN, and a clear timeline of your issue when you email them. I've seen this work for several clients who were stuck in adjudication for extended periods.

My cousin had the same problem last month and he had to call over and over using the auto-redial app on his phone until he finally got through. Took him like 3 days of trying but when he finally got someone they were able to put notes on his file. His claim got approved like 4 days later so maybe it helped?

auto redial doesnt work anymore, they block it now. i tried last week and got a message saying i was using automated dialing and they disconnected me lol

ESD claim specialist here. There is indeed no direct number for the adjudication department. The way the system works is that adjudicators are assigned cases based on specific issues identified in your claim. Regular agents cannot transfer you to adjudication or expedite the process except in very limited circumstances. A few important points: 1) If your financial situation is dire (eviction notice, utility shutoff, etc.), ask specifically for a hardship escalation when you speak to an agent. This won't guarantee faster processing, but it can help. 2) Ensure you've uploaded all requested documents in your ESD portal. Many claims stay in adjudication because they're waiting for documentation. 3) Check your correspondence tab and spam folder frequently. Adjudicators often send fact-finding questionnaires that have strict deadlines. 4) As mentioned, contacting your state representative can sometimes help, particularly if you've been waiting more than 6 weeks. The current average adjudication time is 6-9 weeks, though some cases are resolved faster depending on the complexity of the issue.

Thank you for this detailed explanation. I checked the documents tab again and there actually IS a fact-finding questionnaire from 3 weeks ago that I somehow missed! I'm filling it out right now. Do you think this is why my claim has been stuck?

i was on adjudcation for 11 weeks then finally got paid. just keep filing ur weekly claims even tho u dont get paid right away. when they finally approve u ull get all the backpay at once. thats what happened to me got like $6,700 all at once lol

Wow that must have been a nice surprise after waiting so long! Did they pay you interest on the delayed amount? They really should considering how long people have to wait.

Just seeing your update about the missed questionnaire! That's almost certainly why your claim is stuck. Those fact-finding forms are critical to the adjudication process. Fill it out completely and submit it ASAP. You might want to call after submitting to make sure they received it and to explain that you just found it. They might be able to expedite things since the delay wasn't intentional on your part.

Thanks so much, just submitted the questionnaire and left detailed answers to everything they asked. I feel so stupid for missing it but hopefully this will get things moving. I'll try calling tomorrow to confirm they received it.

Quick update for everyone - I was able to get my adjudication resolved after missing a fact-finding form too. The key was getting through to an actual tier 2 agent who could see the full details of my claim. Regular agents often can't see all the notes or take meaningful action. Just be persistent and specifically ask if they're a tier 2 agent when you get through. If not, politely ask if you can be transferred to one.

Thank you for the tip! I didn't know there were different tiers of agents. I'll specifically ask for a tier 2 agent when I call tomorrow. Hoping I can get this resolved quickly now that I've submitted the form they needed.

I went through a similar nightmare with adjudication last year and found a few things that helped: First, definitely keep filing your weekly claims even while stuck in adjudication - you'll get all the backpay once approved. Second, if you have any kind of hardship documentation (eviction notice, medical bills, etc.), mention this when you call and ask specifically for a "hardship escalation." Third, try calling right when they open at 8 AM - I had better luck getting through early in the morning. Also make sure to check your ESD account daily for any new correspondence or requests for information. The waiting is absolutely brutal but don't give up! Most claims do eventually get resolved, it's just a matter of persistence and making sure you respond to everything they ask for promptly.

This is really helpful advice, especially about the hardship escalation - I had no idea that was even an option! I'm definitely going to try calling right at 8 AM tomorrow and mention my financial situation. I've been so stressed about falling behind on rent but knowing that others have gotten through this gives me some hope. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I'm in a similar situation - been waiting 6 weeks in adjudication and it's really stressing me out financially. Reading through all these responses is both reassuring and terrifying at the same time! It sounds like missing documentation is a common issue, so I'm going to triple-check my ESD portal tonight to make sure I haven't missed anything. The tip about asking for tier 2 agents and hardship escalations is really valuable - I had no idea those were options. For anyone else going through this, it seems like the key takeaways are: keep filing weekly claims, check for missed forms constantly, call early in the morning, ask specifically for tier 2 agents, and contact your state representatives if you're past 6+ weeks. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, it really helps to know we're not alone in this bureaucratic nightmare!
