Can I get Washington ESD unemployment and short term disability at the same time?
I'm really confused about whether I can collect both unemployment benefits from Washington ESD and short-term disability payments at the same time. I got laid off from my warehouse job in December but then hurt my back pretty bad right after. My doctor says I can't work for at least 6-8 weeks. I already filed my UI claim with Washington ESD but now I'm wondering if I should also apply for short-term disability through my old employer's insurance. Can you collect both or do I have to choose one? I don't want to mess up my unemployment claim by applying for disability too.
