Called Governor's office for ESD claim help - it actually worked!
Just wanted to share a major success with everyone struggling with their ESD claims! After 6 weeks of my claim being stuck in processing limbo (seriously, NO movement at all), I was desperate. Someone on Facebook mentioned calling the governor's office and I thought 'yeah right, that sounds extreme' but I was getting nowhere with regular ESD channels. I called yesterday afternoon, spoke to the NICEST lady who took all my info, and she said she'd flag my case. Guess what? Just submitted my weekly claim on Sunday and got notified this morning that my claim is being expedited!! After 6 weeks of radio silence! If you've been waiting forever like I was, CALL THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE. It's not an exaggeration - they actually help and the staff is incredibly kind. I'm so relieved I could cry right now.

This is absolutely correct advice. The governor's office has a dedicated team that helps with ESD escalations. I had to do this last year when my adjudication was pending for 9 weeks - got resolved within 5 days after the governor's office stepped in. For anyone wondering, you need to call the constituent services line at 360-902-4111. They'll take your info and create a case file to send to ESD.

Congrats! I'm so happy for you! 🎉 It's awful being stuck in limbo with bills piling up.

•Thank you! Yes it was getting really scary - my savings was almost gone and I was starting to panic about rent next month. Such a relief!

I tried this and IT DIDN'T WORK AT ALL!!! Called the governor's office 3 times and they took my info but NOTHING happened with my claim. Still disqualified for some BS reason about my job search activities even though I did EXACTLY what ESD told me to do. The whole system is rigged to deny people. Don't get your hopes up.

•I'm sorry you had that experience. There's a big difference between getting help with processing delays versus disqualification issues. For disqualifications, you need to file a formal appeal through the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) within 30 days of the determination. The governor's office can help with stuck claims but can't override disqualification decisions - those require the legal appeal process.

Wait I'm confused. I just got a letter yesterday saying mine was in adjudication and to wait for a decision. Is that different from being in processing? Should I call the governor too or is that only for certain kinds of claim issues?

•Adjudication means there's an issue with your claim that needs review by an ESD specialist. These can take weeks or months to resolve if you just wait. I'd recommend trying the governor's office if your adjudication has been pending for more than 2-3 weeks. Definitely worth a try!

My cousin did this after waiting 3 months!!! she got approved in like 2 days after calling the governors people. but then her neighbor tried it and nothing happened so maybe it depends on what kinda claim you got or something

Just to add some context here: The governor's office can help with processing delays, but they don't influence eligibility decisions. If you're facing true adjudication (meaning there's an eligibility issue being investigated), the governor's office can expedite the review but not change the outcome. For those struggling to reach ESD directly, you might also try Claimyr (claimyr.com) - they have a service that connects you directly to an ESD agent without the endless busy signals. There's a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. I've recommended it to several clients who've had success getting through to resolve their issues.

•Thanks for the info! I had tried calling ESD about 30 times over several weeks before going to the governor's office. Wish I'd known about that service earlier!

•Check your ESD correspondence/letters section in eServices. You should have received a notice if your claim is in adjudication, and it would typically state the specific issue being investigated. If it just says "pending" with no explanation, that's usually a processing delay rather than formal adjudication. Either way, after 5 weeks, it's reasonable to escalate to the governor's office or try using a service to reach ESD directly.

Did you have to do anything special when talking to the governor's office staff? Like use specific terms or mention certain things to get them to help?

•Not at all! I just explained how long I'd been waiting, that I couldn't get through to ESD on the phone, and that I was running out of money for basic necessities. She was super understanding right away. I think they're used to these calls.

This is so encouraging to hear! I've been dealing with a stuck claim for about 4 weeks now and was starting to lose hope. The regular ESD phone lines are basically useless - either busy signals or you get disconnected after waiting on hold forever. I didn't even know the governor's office could help with this stuff. Definitely going to call that number tomorrow morning. Thanks for sharing your success story - it gives me hope that there might actually be a way out of this nightmare!
