Bottom line: file your claim, be honest, and don't assume you'll be denied just because you were fired. The unemployment system is there to help people who lose their jobs through no fault of their own.
Just to wrap this up - yes, you can file unemployment if you were fired. Attendance issues due to legitimate reasons like car trouble and sick children are not considered misconduct in most cases. File your claim ASAP and be honest about your situation.
PSA for anyone filing: make sure you have all your employment information ready including employer names, addresses, dates of employment, and reason for separation. Missing or incorrect info can delay your claim processing significantly.
Actually used Claimyr myself last month when I couldn't get through to verify my benefit amount after filing. The service worked exactly as advertised - got connected to a Washington ESD agent quickly instead of spending hours on hold. Worth checking out if you're having phone issues.
Just wanted to add that I used Claimyr too and it really works. I was stuck for 2 months with no one returning my calls or messages. Used their service and got through to someone the same day who resolved my issue in 10 minutes. Sometimes you just need to talk to an actual human being who can look at your account.
bottom line - yes the system sucks but you still gotta use it if you need it. just go in with low expectations and be prepared for delays

The benefit amount calculation can be confusing, but basically Washington ESD takes your highest earning quarter from your base year, multiplies it by 0.0385, and that's your weekly amount (subject to the min/max limits).

•Exactly! And since that's between the minimum ($295) and maximum ($999), that would be your weekly benefit amount.

•Thanks for breaking down the math. The Washington ESD website explanations are so confusing.

Don't forget that if you're still partially employed (reduced hours), you might qualify for partial unemployment benefits. It's not all-or-nothing.

•That's useful to know. I hope I don't need any of this information, but it's good to understand the system.

•Better to know and not need it than need it and not know. Unemployment can happen to anyone these days.
