Update us on how it goes! There aren't enough success stories about pregnancy-related quit claims. Would love to hear if you get approved.
One more thing - if your claim gets denied initially, don't give up. You have the right to appeal and many pregnancy-related cases get approved on appeal even if denied first. The appeals process gives you a chance to present your case more thoroughly.
Usually 6-8 weeks for a hearing to be scheduled. It's frustrating but worth it if you have a strong case.
And if you need to talk to someone about your appeal, that Claimyr service I mentioned can help you reach the right department. They were really helpful when I had questions about my case.
The whole approval process is way more confusing than it needs to be. You'd think they'd just send a clear 'APPROVED' or 'DENIED' message but instead you have to piece it together from different parts of your account.
The most important thing is to report work immediately. I made the mistake of waiting until my next weekly claim and it flagged my account for review. Took weeks to sort out.
Make sure you report any income you earn while receiving benefits, even if it's just a few hours of work. Not reporting income is considered fraud and they will make you pay back any overpayment with penalties.
The whole process is intimidating at first but you got this! Just take it one step at a time and don't be afraid to ask questions if you get stuck.

Just want to add that if you're self-employed or an independent contractor, you might not be eligible for regular UI benefits. You'd need to check if you qualify for other programs or if you've been paying into the system voluntarily.

•Good point. A lot of gig workers found this out the hard way when they tried to file for unemployment.

•Thankfully I'm a regular W-2 employee, so I should be covered. This thread has been really helpful in understanding how the benefit calculation works.

One more tip - when you do get your benefit determination letter from Washington ESD, read it carefully and make sure all the wage information is correct. If there are errors, you need to appeal quickly to get them fixed.

•I believe it's 30 days from when the determination is mailed, but don't quote me on that. Best to appeal as soon as you notice an error.

•And this is where services like Claimyr become really valuable - getting through to ESD to discuss appeal issues or benefit calculations is nearly impossible otherwise. I've used them twice now when I needed to actually talk to someone about my claim.
