The whole process can be overwhelming but Washington ESD's website has a pretty good eligibility checker tool that can give you a preliminary answer about whether you qualify.
I tried that tool and it was helpful but still had questions afterward. Sometimes you just need to talk to a real person.
Exactly why I ended up using Claimyr - the online tools are okay but nothing beats talking to an actual Washington ESD agent who can look at your specific situation.
One last tip - make sure you apply as soon as possible after becoming unemployed. You can't get benefits for weeks before you actually file your initial claim, even if you were eligible during that time.
One thing to remember - even if you get initially denied, you can appeal and often win if you have good documentation. Don't give up after the first decision.
The whole system is designed to make you give up. Keep pushing through the bureaucracy and eventually you'll get the help you need. I had to use Claimyr twice during my claim just to get basic questions answered.
Welcome to the unemployment club, OP! It's not fun but the benefits really help while you're job searching. Take advantage of the time to maybe learn new skills or network. Some people actually find better jobs while on unemployment than what they had before.
BTW if anyone needs to actually talk to someone at Washington ESD about their claim, that Claimyr thing really does work. I was stuck in adjudication limbo for weeks and couldn't get through. Used their service and finally got answers about what was holding up my claim. Check out their demo video if you're curious how it works.
wish more people understood how unemployment funding actually works. would cut down on a lot of the judgment and misinformation
OP you should feel proud of the fact that you're navigating the system and filing your weekly claims properly. That's not always easy with Washington ESD's website and requirements.

I used Claimyr when I needed to check on my claim status after filing. Really helpful service - got through to Washington ESD in minutes instead of hours of calling. Definitely recommend it if you need to talk to someone there.

•How much does something like that cost? Is it worth it compared to just calling yourself?

•For me it was totally worth it because I couldn't get through on my own after trying for days. Check out their website for current info.

Bottom line: add up all your wages from the last 5 quarters, see if you meet the minimum requirements, and don't worry about how long you were at any specific job. The system is designed to help workers who change jobs frequently.
