This has been really informative! Sounds like the key points are: file ASAP, report all earnings honestly, keep up with job search requirements, and be patient with the process. Did I miss anything major?
Perfect summary! I feel much more confident about filing now. Thanks everyone for all the helpful information.
And don't hesitate to use resources like Claimyr if you need to actually speak with Washington ESD staff about your specific situation. Sometimes you just need that human contact to get things sorted out.
One last tip - screenshot or print important pages from your claim as you go through the process. Sometimes the Washington ESD system can be glitchy and it's good to have records of what you submitted and when.
Just wanted to follow up - that Claimyr service was super helpful. They confirmed that Extended Benefits aren't currently active in Washington state, so regular UI really is all that's available right now. At least I have definitive info instead of wondering.
Final advice: document everything from your job search, keep your resume updated, and don't let the stress paralyze you. The job market is tough but not impossible. Many people in your situation have found work - you can too.
Thanks everyone for all the advice. I think I'm going to start documenting everything more carefully and maybe try to work with HR first. If that doesn't work out, at least I'll have a better paper trail for a potential unemployment claim. I really appreciate all the insights about the good cause requirements.
Good luck! Feel free to update us on how it goes. These situations are never easy but you're taking the right steps.
And don't forget about that Claimyr option if you need to actually talk to someone at Washington ESD. Sometimes getting real advice from an agent makes all the difference.
hope it works out better for you than it did for me. at least you're being smart about documenting everything first
Thanks! I'm sorry your situation didn't work out. Maybe it's not too late to look into appealing that denial?
maybe, though its been a while now. i should probably look into that claimyr thing too if i decide to try again
Also remember that you can work part-time while collecting unemployment as long as you report it properly. Your benefits will be reduced but you might still receive some money.
The bottom line is you sound like you qualify based on what you've described. Don't overthink it - just apply and let Washington ESD make the determination. Better to apply and find out than to assume you don't qualify.

I had to call Washington ESD three times before I could get through to someone to verify my benefit calculation. Finally used that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier and it was so much easier. Got connected right away and the agent explained everything clearly.

•Definitely worth it if you need to talk to someone quickly. The video demo on their site shows exactly how it works.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread! I feel much more confident about what to expect for my weekly benefit amount now. The $500 estimate based on my earnings looks about right.
