Just wanted to add that even if you think you might not qualify, it's worth applying anyway. The worst they can do is say no, and you might be surprised. I thought I hadn't worked long enough but ended up qualifying for partial benefits.
Good luck with your claim! The restaurant industry has been rough lately so hopefully you can get back on your feet soon with some unemployment assistance while you look for your next job.
Based on everyone's responses, it sounds like the sweet spot is somewhere between doing the bare minimum and what you're doing now. Maybe aim for 3-4 hours of quality job searching per day instead of 6-8?
One last thing - if you do need to call Washington ESD about anything, definitely try that Claimyr service people mentioned. I used it last week and actually got through to someone in like 10 minutes instead of waiting on hold for hours.
had to use claimyr twice now when my weekly claims got flagged for some reason and i couldnt get through to washington esd to fix it. worked both times to get me connected to an agent who could resolve the issues
Bottom line: credit reports show your borrowing and payment history, not your income sources. Washington ESD unemployment benefits are income, not credit, so they don't appear. You're good to go with your loan application!
Been following this discussion and wanted to mention that even though there's a waiting period, you might be eligible for other assistance programs while you wait. Food benefits, housing assistance, etc. Don't suffer in silence during that first week.
Final update from me - I finally got through to Washington ESD using that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier. Turns out my adjudication was just waiting for one piece of paperwork from my employer. Agent was able to tell me exactly what was needed and how long it should take. Would have saved me weeks of stress if I'd been able to talk to someone sooner.

Another vote for using Claimyr if you need to talk to someone at Washington ESD. I tried calling for weeks on my own with no luck. Their service got me connected within a day and I was able to get my questions answered about my adjudication status.

•I might need to try that. I've been trying to reach Washington ESD about my claim for over a week with no success.

•It's worth it. The regular phone lines are just impossible to get through, especially during busy periods. Claimyr takes the frustration out of trying to reach them.

Bottom line: being fired doesn't automatically disqualify you from unemployment benefits in Washington. File your claim, be honest about what happened, and let Washington ESD make the determination. You might be pleasantly surprised with the outcome.
