Just filed my claim yesterday and used the benefit estimator. With my wages from tech job should get around $850/week. Now just waiting for adjudication to complete so payments can start.
If adjudication is taking too long, that's another good time to use something like Claimyr to reach an agent and check on status
One more thing - if you work part-time while collecting unemployment, Washington ESD has a formula for how that affects your weekly benefit. You can earn up to about $200 without any reduction, then they start deducting from your benefit amount.
I keep getting stuck in adjudication with Washington ESD and can't get anyone to explain what's happening with my claim. The online system just says 'pending' but gives no details about what they need or how long it might take.
Adjudication issues are so frustrating! I had a similar problem and ended up using claimyr.com to actually get through to someone who could explain what was happening. The regular phone system is basically useless for complex issues like this.
Overall, it seems like unemployment insurance serves multiple goals - individual income support, economic stabilization, workforce development, and social stability. It's more complex than just 'helping unemployed people' which I think a lot of people don't realize.
Exactly! It's a multifaceted program that benefits not just unemployed individuals but the entire economy and society.
If you're unsure about the recall date, you can always call Washington ESD to clarify before submitting your application. They'd rather answer questions upfront than deal with corrections later.
I had the same problem until someone told me about Claimyr. They basically call Washington ESD for you and get your questions answered. Saved me hours of trying to get through myself. Worth checking out at claimyr.com if you need to talk to an actual agent.
Thanks everyone for the clarification! This thread helped me understand what to put for my situation. Glad I asked before submitting my application.
Just to add some specifics since I dealt with this recently - when you file, you'll need your Social Security number, employment history for the past 18 months, and your last employer's information. Having all that ready makes the process go much faster.
I've seen people stress about this deadline question a lot. The truth is Washington ESD wants people to file and get benefits if they're eligible. They're not trying to create arbitrary deadlines to trip people up. The sooner you file, the sooner you can start getting help.

One more thing - if you had any union representation at your job, reach out to them too. They might be able to help with both the unemployment claim and potentially fighting the termination itself.

•No union unfortunately, but I appreciate all the advice everyone's given. Feeling much more confident about applying now.

•Good luck with your claim! Remember to file ASAP and don't get discouraged if there are delays. The system is slow but it does work eventually.

Just to echo what others said about Claimyr - I used it last month when I couldn't get through to Washington ESD for weeks. Finally got to speak with someone who could check on my claim status and explain the next steps. Worth trying if you're stuck in phone hell.
