Sometimes I wonder if 26 weeks is enough time in today's job market. Took me 8 months to find something decent after my last layoff, but unemployment only covered the first 6 months.
Just want to echo what others said about using Claimyr if you need to talk to ESD. I was getting nowhere with the regular phone lines and they got me connected within a day. Really helped when I had questions about my benefit duration and eligibility.
That's the third mention of Claimyr in this thread. Sounds like it's actually legit. Good to know if I run into issues.
Thanks everyone for all the advice! I'm going to file tomorrow and select 'laid off' since that aligns with what my supervisor told me about budget cuts and position elimination. I feel much more confident now about my choice.
Glad I could help with the Claimyr suggestion. Having that direct contact with Washington ESD really makes a difference when you have questions.
One thing that's definitely better now than historically - online claim filing. Can you imagine having to go to physical offices for everything like they did decades ago?
Final thought - whether unemployment is decreasing due to 1950s-style economic boom or just better Washington ESD processing, the important thing is people are getting back to work and claims are moving faster. That's progress either way.
FINAL UPDATE: My claim was approved! Got a letter yesterday saying the adjudication found in my favor and I should receive 4 weeks of back pay within 2-3 business days. Thanks everyone for the advice and support!
About 3.5 weeks total. The Claimyr call definitely helped move things along once I knew what was causing the delay.
This thread is so helpful! I just entered adjudication yesterday and was panicking. At least now I know what to expect and have some options for getting information.

Good luck with your claim! Most people in your situation do get approved, it just might take a few weeks if your employer contests it. Don't give up and make sure to keep filing your weekly claims even if the initial decision is pending.

•That's the right attitude. The system works, it just takes patience sometimes.

Just wanted to add that if you need help getting through to Washington ESD later on, there are services like Claimyr that can help you reach an actual person instead of sitting on hold forever. Really saved me when I had issues with my claim.

•Several people have mentioned that service now. I'll keep it in mind if I run into problems getting through to them.
