The employer has to prove misconduct, not just claim it happened. Washington ESD will look at documentation, warnings, policies, and your work history. If they can't prove willful misconduct, you'll likely get approved.
Anyone know if the weeks count calendar weeks or just the weeks you actually collect benefits? Like if I had a gap where I worked for 2 weeks, do those count against my 26?
The whole benefit duration thing stressed me out so much that I ended up calling Washington ESD through that Claimyr service just to have someone walk me through my specific situation. Best decision I made - got all my questions answered and could focus on job searching instead of worrying about timelines.
Make sure your direct deposit info is correct in your account! I had a friend who had to wait an extra week because her bank routing number was wrong and the payment bounced back to Washington ESD.
Bottom line - if your claim is straightforward (regular layoff, clear employment history, no disputes), expect 2-3 weeks. If there are complications, could be 4-8 weeks or more. The key is staying on top of your weekly claims and requirements.
The key thing is just to be patient and keep filing your weekly claims even during the waiting week. I know it's stressful when you need money, but the system does work eventually.
Just want to add that if you have any questions about your specific situation during the waiting week, don't hesitate to contact Washington ESD. It's better to ask questions early than to have problems later.
And if you can't get through on the phone, that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier actually worked for me. Worth considering if you need to talk to someone urgently.

One last thing - if you're filing taxes and realize you need to contact Washington ESD about something on your 1099-G, don't waste time calling the regular number. I spent weeks trying to get through until someone told me about Claimyr. Got connected to an agent the same day and sorted out my issue.

•How does that work exactly? Do they just call for you or what?

•They have this system that monitors the phone lines and calls you back when an agent is available. Way better than sitting on hold forever.

Thanks everyone for all the helpful info! I feel much more confident about handling this on my tax return now. The distinction between earned and unearned income makes sense now that it's been explained clearly.

•Glad we could help clear things up. Tax season is stressful enough without being confused about the basics.
