I went through something similar last year and the anxiety was terrible. Turns out I qualified easily and got approved within a week. Don't let yourself spiral with worry until you know the facts about your specific situation.
Final thought - even if there are questions about your eligibility, you should still file a claim if you lose your job. Let Washington ESD make the determination rather than assuming you don't qualify. Sometimes people are surprised by what they're eligible for.
Last tip - when you file online, make sure to save all confirmation numbers and print out any documents they give you. The Washington ESD system can be glitchy and having paper backup is smart.
Update us on how it goes! Always curious to hear about other people's experiences with the Washington ESD process. Good luck with your claim.
And remember, if you need to reach Washington ESD and can't get through on the phone, that Claimyr service I mentioned earlier really does work. Saved me hours of frustration.
Yeah you should definitely qualify if you're laid off. Just remember that unemployment benefits are temporary - they're meant to help you while you look for new work, not as a long-term solution. Start job hunting right away even while you're waiting for benefits to kick in.
Best of luck with everything! Layoffs are stressful but at least unemployment benefits exist to help bridge the gap. Follow all the advice here and you should be fine. The system works, it's just sometimes slow and frustrating.
Whatever you do, don't just disappear from the system. Keep filing your weekly claims until you're officially exhausted and stay engaged with WorkSource.
This thread has been really helpful. I'm going to call Washington ESD tomorrow using that Claimyr service to get specific answers about my situation before I panic any more.

just wanted to add that if you do eventually get through, be prepared with all your info ready - claim number, SSN, dates of the issue, etc. The agents can't hold the line forever while you look stuff up

•Good point, I'll make sure to have everything written down before I call.

Hope this thread helps others dealing with the same phone nightmare. It's reassuring to know I'm not the only one struggling with this. At least there seem to be some viable solutions whether it's the early morning calling strategy or using a service like Claimyr to get through.
