Have you tried reaching out to your state representative's office? Sometimes they can help cut through the red tape with Washington ESD issues.
UPDATE: I finally got through using that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier. Turns out my employer did dispute my claim saying I was fired for misconduct, which is completely false. Now I have to provide documentation to prove otherwise. At least I know what I'm dealing with now. Thanks everyone for the advice!
Good luck with the documentation. Make sure to include anything that shows you quit for good cause or that the misconduct claim is false. Pay stubs, emails, witness statements, whatever you have.
Bottom line: no age restriction for unemployment in Washington state. If your daughter worked, earned wages, and lost her job through no fault of her own, she can file. The rest is just paperwork and following the normal UI process.
good luck with the application! washington esd can be a pain to deal with but the benefits are definitely worth it when you need them. your daughter should be fine as long as she meets the wage requirements
It's also worth noting that certain types of separations don't count against an employer's experience rating as much. Like if there's a mass layoff due to economic conditions vs individual terminations for performance issues.
Really? I didn't know they distinguished between different types of job loss. That actually makes sense though.
bottom line is employers definitely pay for unemployment benefits through their taxes, but its not a direct payment per claim. the system is designed to spread the cost across all employers while still giving individual employers an incentive to minimize turnover and wrongful terminations
good luck with everything! losing a job sucks but at least washington has decent unemployment benefits compared to some states. hang in there
Also make sure you keep applying for jobs even before your first payment comes through. The job search requirement starts right away and they can ask for proof going back to when you first filed.

The waiting is the worst part. I remember checking my account obsessively every day waiting for something to change. Try to stay busy with job hunting and don't let the stress consume you.

•I know it's easier said than done but the waiting is normal. Most people get approved eventually.

Bottom line - if everything goes smoothly you're looking at about a month from filing to first payment. If there are complications it could be 6-8 weeks or more. Have a backup plan for covering expenses during the waiting period.

•A month is manageable. Beyond that would be really tough. Thanks everyone for the realistic timeline.
