One more thing - make sure you keep all documentation about your termination. If there's adjudication or an appeal, having emails, write-ups, or other records can be really helpful in presenting your case.
Just wanted to echo what others said about Claimyr - when my adjudication was taking forever and I couldn't get through to Washington ESD, they got me connected to an agent who explained exactly what additional info was needed. Definitely worth using if you hit roadblocks.
My sister waited 8 weeks but she had quit her job before getting laid off from a different job, so they had to adjudicate the quit. Complicated situations definitely take longer.
FINAL UPDATE: Got approved today! Exactly 17 days from when I filed. First payment should hit my account in a few days. Thanks everyone for the reassurance that 2-3 weeks was normal - you were right!
The whole system is set up to discourage people from quitting and claiming benefits. Even with legitimate good cause, expect to fight for it and be prepared with tons of documentation.
Final thought - if you do quit and file for unemployment, be completely honest in your application about why you quit. Trying to hide it or be vague will just make things worse when they investigate.
all this talk about federal policy is interesting but the reality is most of us just need to keep our benefits coming while we look for work. whether the fed raises rates or not doesnt change the fact that i still need to eat and pay rent
Thanks everyone for all the insights. I feel like I have a better understanding now of how federal policy might affect unemployment but doesn't directly change my Washington ESD requirements. I'll keep filing weekly and doing my job searches regardless of what happens with interest rates.

For what it's worth, I'm 66 and have been collecting both for almost a year. Never had any issues or conflicts between the two programs. They really are completely separate systems.

Just want to add that you should also look into whether you qualify for any other programs like SNAP or utility assistance while you're between jobs. Every bit of help makes a difference at our age.

•211 is a great resource - just dial 2-1-1 and they can connect you with local assistance programs.
