PA UC PIN missing from claim confirmation letter - how to recover it?

I just filed my initial UC claim and got the confirmation letter in the mail yesterday. Everyone told me my PIN would be included in this letter but I can't find it anywhere! Did they change the process? I've looked through every piece of paper that came in the envelope like 5 times. How am I supposed to file my weekly claims without a PIN? The website says I need it to access my account. Is the PIN supposed to come in a separate letter? Really stressing out because I need to file my weekly certification this Sunday!

same thing happened to me last month. they send the pin in a separate letter for security reasons. should come in a few days

Oh thank god. I was freaking out thinking I lost it somehow. Do you remember how many days it took for yours to arrive after the claim confirmation?

The PIN always comes in a separate mailing for security purposes. This is normal procedure. Your PIN letter should arrive within 3-5 business days after your initial claim confirmation. If you don't receive it within a week, you can request a PIN reset through the PA UC website or by calling the service center. Also, don't worry too much about filing this Sunday - you have until Friday of the following week to file your weekly certification without it being considered late. The system gives you some buffer time specifically because they know new claimants might be waiting on PINs or have trouble with the system.

Thank you so much for explaining! That's a huge relief about having until Friday. I had no idea there was a grace period. The instructions made it sound super urgent to file on Sunday.

UGH The STUPID PA UC system is THE WORST!!! They should tell people clearly that the PIN comes separate!!! I panicked about this too and wasted HOURS trying to get through on the phone!! Then waited another WEEK for the stupid PIN to show up while bills were piling up!!! WHY can't they just email the PIN or let us create our own online??? It's 2025 for crying out loud!!!

omg I know right?? their system is so outdated! took me forever to get my pin too and then when I finally got it I entered it wrong 3 times and got locked out 🤦‍♀️

If you're really in a hurry and can't wait for the PIN letter, I had success using Claimyr to get through to an actual PA UC agent who helped reset my PIN over the phone. I was skeptical at first but their system actually works - got through to an agent in about 10 minutes instead of spending days trying to call myself. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 The website is claimyr.com - totally worth it when you're in a situation where you need to talk to someone right away. The agent I spoke with was able to verify my identity and issue a temporary PIN during the call.

is that service legit?? im always worried about scams with unemployment stuff

Yes, it's legitimate. They just help you get through to the actual PA unemployment office. You still talk directly with official UC representatives, not third-party people. They basically navigate the phone system for you and call you back when they have an agent on the line.

To add some clarity here: The PA UC system deliberately sends PINs in separate mailings as a security measure to prevent fraud. Here's the typical timeline: 1. Initial claim confirmation letter (1-3 days after filing) 2. PIN letter (3-5 days after filing) 3. Financial determination letter (7-10 days after filing) If your PIN doesn't arrive within 7 business days of filing, you should either: - Use the "Forgot PIN" option on the PA UC website - Call the UC service center at 888-313-7284 - Visit a PA CareerLink office in person (bring ID) And yes, for weekly certifications, the system gives you from Sunday through Friday of that week to file, so you do have some flexibility.

This timeline is super helpful! I filed last Thursday so based on this I should hopefully get the PIN by this Wednesday. If not I'll try the forgot PIN option. Thank you!!

when i filed my claim back in January they actually told me they were planning to switch to a new system where you create your own PIN online instead of getting it in the mail but i guess they haven't done that yet. so annoying how government agencies take forever to upgrade their systems

UPDATE: My PIN came in the mail today! You all were right about it being in a separate letter. Looks like it took exactly 5 business days after my confirmation letter. Thanks to everyone who helped calm me down! Now I just need to figure out how this weekly certification thing works...

Great news! For weekly certifications, just log in with your SSN and PIN on Sunday (or any day through Friday) and follow the prompts. Make sure you have information about any work/earnings during the week ready. The system will ask you a series of yes/no questions about your availability for work, job search activities, and any income. Take your time reading each question carefully, as answering incorrectly can cause delays.

Congrats on getting your PIN! Just wanted to add a tip for the weekly certifications - make sure you keep track of all your job search activities throughout the week (where you applied, when, contact info) because they sometimes audit claims and ask for proof. I learned this the hard way when they requested documentation for my job searches from several weeks back. Also, if you worked ANY hours during a week, even just a few, make sure to report those earnings accurately. Better to be overly detailed than risk any issues later!

This is such great advice! I had no idea they could audit your job search records. I've been keeping a mental note of where I apply but I should probably start writing it down properly. Do you know what kind of documentation they typically want? Like screenshots of applications or just a list with dates and company names?
