Can't reach PA Treasury about my missing UC check - always says not accepting calls

I've been trying to contact the PA Treasury Department for over a week now about a missing unemployment check. Every single time I call, I get an automated message saying they're 'not accepting calls at this time' and then it just disconnects! I was told by UC that my payment was already processed and I should contact the Treasury since they handle the actual check distribution. Has anyone successfully gotten through to PA Treasury recently? I'm getting desperate because rent is due next week and I need that money. Do they have specific hours? An email address? Any other way to reach them? This is so frustrating!

Ugh same thing happened to me last month! It's SO annoying. The PA Treasury is impossible to reach by phone these days. Try emailing them at patreasury@patreasury.gov - that's how I finally got a response. But it took them like 4 days to get back to me. Also check if your check might have been sent to the wrong address or if it was returned to them.

Thanks for the email address! I'll try that today. Did they actually help resolve your issue when they finally responded? And did you ever figure out why your check was missing?

The Treasury office is overwhelmed right now with benefit payment issues. Before you keep trying them, double-check on your UC portal that they actually sent the payment. Look under "Payment History" and see if it shows as "Cleared" or just "Issued". If it's just issued, it might still be processing and not actually with Treasury yet. Also, are you sure you're supposed to get a physical check? Most PA UC payments go to direct deposit or the Money Network card now.

It definitely shows "Cleared" in my payment history, and the rep specifically told me it was sent as a physical check because there was an issue with my direct deposit info. I tried setting up DD again but it was too late for this payment apparently.

Thanks for the tip! I'll try calling right at 8am tomorrow. Did you call the main number or is there a specific department I should ask for?

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO MAKE YOU GIVE UP!!! I spent TWO MONTHS trying to get my UC money that they owed me. Treasury dept is the worst of all. They tell you to call UC, UC tells you to call Treasury, and NOBODY ANSWERS THEIR PHONES!!! The only way I finally got it resolved was going IN PERSON to the local CareerLink office and making them call on my behalf. Even then it took another 3 weeks to get my $$.

This is actually good advice. CareerLink staff sometimes have direct lines to UC and Treasury that regular people don't have access to. Worth trying if email doesn't work!

I work with UC claimants regularly. Here's what you should do: 1. First, contact UC again and ask them to verify the check was actually printed and mailed. Get the exact date it was mailed and the check number if possible. 2. If the check was definitely mailed more than 10 business days ago, you can request a replacement through UC by filing a "Forgery Affidavit" - don't let the name confuse you, it's also used for lost/undelivered checks. 3. For contacting Treasury directly, their Unclaimed Property Division might be able to help: 1-800-222-2046. This is different than their main number. 4. Also check www.patreasury.gov/unclaimed-property to see if your check was returned and is listed there. Be prepared that if you do need a replacement check, it typically takes 4-6 weeks to process.

Thank you so much for these detailed steps! I didn't know about the Forgery Affidavit option. I'll try the Unclaimed Property Division number tomorrow morning at 8am. Really appreciate the help!

I had to contact PA Treasury about my UC check last year and it was literally impossible to get through on their regular phone lines. After two weeks of trying, I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got connected to a real person at UC who was able to conference in someone from Treasury. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 They got me through immediately when I had been trying for days with no luck. The UC rep was able to see that my check had been issued but returned to Treasury because of a wrong address digit. They fixed it on the spot and I got my payment reissued.

I've been checking my account daily but nothing so far. I wish they'd just deposit it instead of the check! Would make everything so much simpler.

One more thing to consider - if this is a UC check from a claim that's more than one year old, Treasury might have moved it to unclaimed property status. In that case, you'd need to file a claim through the unclaimed property website. Also, I forgot to mention in my first comment, but you should make sure your mailing address is 100% correct in the UC system. Even a small error like an apartment number missing can cause a check to be returned to Treasury.

It's a recent claim from this year, but I'll double-check my address in the system. Now that you mention it, I did move 3 months ago and updated my address, but maybe there was an error when I entered it. Thanks for the reminder!

Any luck with contacting them? I'm curious if any of the suggestions worked for you.

Update: I tried the Unclaimed Property number this morning at 8am and actually got through! Turns out my check was returned because of a wrong apartment number (I put #203 but it should have been #230). They're reissuing it and said it should arrive within 7-10 days. Thanks everyone for all your help!

That's awesome Derek! So glad you got it sorted out. Good reminder for everyone to double-check their address details - those small mistakes can cause so much headache. Hope your check arrives quickly!

That's such great news! I've been following this thread because I'm dealing with a similar issue with my UC payment. Really helpful to know that the Unclaimed Property number actually works and that address errors are a common cause. Going to double-check my address info right now just in case. Thanks for sharing the update!

This is such a relief to read! I've been dealing with PA Treasury issues for my disability payments and was getting so frustrated with the phone system. Definitely going to try calling that Unclaimed Property number first thing Monday morning. It's crazy how one wrong digit can mess everything up - I'm paranoid about my address now too. Thanks for sharing what worked!
