Where to find unemployment insurance employer account number for NYS Department of Labor claim
I'm trying to file my weekly claim and it's asking for my employer's unemployment insurance account number. I have no idea where to find this - is it on my paystub? My W-2? I looked through all my paperwork from my last job but can't find anything that looks like an account number. Does anyone know where employers usually put this information or how I can get it?

The employer UI account number is usually on your separation notice (form IA 12.3) if you got one. It might also be on your final paystub under employer info. If you can't find it, you can call your former employer's HR department - they should have it readily available since they use it for all their unemployment filings.

•I never got a separation notice and my last paystub doesn't show it anywhere. I guess I'll have to contact HR but they're not exactly friendly since I was laid off.

honestly just leave it blank if you cant find it, the NYS Department of Labor can look it up themselves using your SSN and employer name

•That's not accurate advice. Leaving required fields blank can delay your claim processing. The UI account number helps NYS Department of Labor verify your employment history quickly. You should make an effort to obtain it properly.

I had this same problem last year! Spent hours looking through everything. Finally found it on an old paystub from like 6 months before I was laid off - it was in tiny print next to the employer name. Check ALL your paystubs, not just the recent ones. Sometimes they only print it periodically.

•Good idea! I only checked my last few paystubs. I'll dig through the older ones to see if it shows up anywhere.

If you're having trouble reaching your employer, I used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to a NYS Department of Labor agent when I had questions about my claim. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. The agent was able to help me figure out what to do when I was missing employer information. Way easier than trying to call the regular number and getting disconnected.

•Never heard of that but sounds interesting. I've been trying to reach NYS Department of Labor for weeks about my adjudication issue.

This whole system is ridiculous! Why do they need some random account number that employers hide from us? I worked there for 3 years and never once saw this mysterious number anywhere. Just another way to make filing claims impossible.

•The account number helps verify your wage history and ensures benefits are charged to the correct employer. It's actually an important part of the system working properly, even if it's frustrating when you can't locate it.

try checking your employee handbook or any onboarding paperwork you got when you started the job, sometimes its buried in there
