When can unemployment be denied by NYS Department of Labor?
I got fired from my retail job last month and applied for unemployment benefits. My manager said I was terminated for attendance issues but I think it was unfair since I had to miss work when my kid was sick. Now I'm worried my claim might get denied. What are the main reasons NYS Department of Labor can deny unemployment claims? I've never filed before so I don't know what to expect during this whole process.

Been through this before - NYS Department of Labor is pretty thorough. They denied my first claim because I quit to take care of my mom but didn't have proper documentation. ugh the system is so frustrating!!! they denied me because they said I didnt look for work enough but I applied to like 20 jobs. apparently you have to log everything in their stupid system or it doesnt count
