What number does NYS Department of Labor unemployment call you from?

I've been waiting for a callback from NYS Department of Labor about my unemployment claim for over a week now. They said someone would call me back within 72 hours but nothing yet. I'm worried I might have missed their call because I don't recognize the number. Does anyone know what number unemployment calls from? I don't want to accidentally ignore their call when it finally comes through.

NYS Department of Labor usually calls from 518-457-9000 or similar 518 area code numbers. Sometimes it shows up as 'New York State' on caller ID. They might also call from blocked numbers so don't ignore those either.

Thank you! I'll make sure to answer any 518 calls. Should I call them back if I miss it or wait for them to try again?

If you're having trouble getting through to NYS Department of Labor by phone, I had success using a service called Claimyr at claimyr.com. They have this system that helps you actually reach a human agent instead of getting stuck in the phone queue. There's a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Saved me hours of calling and redialing.

How does that work exactly? Do they call you back or do they help you get through faster?

They basically handle the calling and waiting for you, then connect you when an agent picks up. Really simple to use and way less frustrating than doing it yourself.

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS A JOKE! I've been waiting 2 months for my adjudication to clear and they keep saying someone will call me back. Meanwhile I can't pay my rent because my claim is stuck in limbo. They need to hire more people instead of making us wait forever.

I feel you, the wait times are ridiculous right now
