What is the maximum unemployment benefit for 2022 - NYS Department of Labor rates?

I'm trying to figure out what the maximum weekly unemployment benefit amount was for 2022 in New York. I'm looking at my old claim from that year and want to make sure I was getting the right amount. Does anyone know what the max benefit rate was set at by NYS Department of Labor for 2022? I think I might have been underpaid but not sure what the ceiling was supposed to be.

The maximum weekly benefit rate for 2022 in New York was $504 per week. This was for regular unemployment insurance (UI) benefits through NYS Department of Labor. The amount you actually receive depends on your base period wages, but $504 was the absolute maximum anyone could get regardless of how much they earned before becoming unemployed.

Thanks! I was only getting $380 per week so I guess that was correct based on my previous salary. Good to know the max though.

Yep $504 was the max for 2022. Just remember that's before taxes if you chose to have them withheld. The actual calculation is based on your highest quarter earnings in your base period divided by 26, but it can't exceed that $504 ceiling. If you think there was an error in your benefit calculation, you can always request NYS Department of Labor review your monetary determination.

How do you request a review of the monetary determination? I had issues with my 2022 claim too and never got it sorted out.

You can file an appeal within 30 days of receiving your monetary determination notice, or contact NYS Department of Labor directly if it's been longer. Sometimes they'll do a redetermination if there were wage reporting errors.

ugh trying to get through to someone at NYS Department of Labor about benefit calculations is impossible!! I've been calling for weeks about a similar issue and just get hung up on or told the wait time is over 2 hours. Has anyone found a way to actually reach a human there?

I had the same problem until I found Claimyr - it's a service that calls NYS Department of Labor for you and gets you connected to an actual agent. Check out claimyr.com, they have a demo video at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Saved me so much frustration trying to get through their phone system.

just wanted to add that the $504 max has gone up since 2022 so if you're filing a new claim now the rates are different. but yeah for 2022 claims that was definitely the ceiling
