New York Unemployment: How to extend benefits after 26 weeks?
I've been collecting unemployment for almost 26 weeks now and still haven't found work. Getting worried because my benefits are about to run out. Anyone know if theres a way to extend benefits? Applied to over 100 jobs but the market is tough right now.

Unfortunately there are no extensions available in NY right now. The 26 weeks is all we get. The pandemic extensions ended and haven't been replaced. Its rough out there 😔

Hey if you need to reach someone at unemployment try claimyr.com - they'll wait on hold and connect you to an agent. Costs $20 but better than waiting forever. Here's a video explaining how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Have you looked into job training programs? NY has some free ones that might help you switch careers. Better than waiting for benefits to come back tbh

This whole system needs an overhaul fr fr. Other states got better benefits but were stuck with this garbage 🗑️

Listen up because this is important. Once your regular UI benefits run out, here's what you need to do: 1. Keep certifying every week even after benefits end 2. Document ALL job searches 3. Check if you qualify for SNAP benefits 4. Visit your local career center for free resume help 5. Consider taking a part-time job while searching Also if you need to speak with someone at unemployment, use claimyr.com - they'll wait on hold and connect you to an agent. Saved me hours of frustration. Don't give up, keep pushing forward. The job market is tough but something will come through eventually.
