NYS Department of Labor claim filed weeks ago - why haven't I got my unemployment yet?
I submitted my unemployment application through the NYS Department of Labor website almost a month ago and still haven't received any payments. My claim status just says 'under review' but there's no explanation of what they're reviewing or how long it will take. I've been filing my weekly claims like I'm supposed to but nothing is happening. I'm really starting to panic because my rent is due next week and I have no idea when this will get resolved. Has anyone else experienced delays like this? What am I supposed to do?

Unfortunately delays are pretty common right now with NYS Department of Labor. When you say 'under review' are you sure that's the exact status? Sometimes it shows 'adjudication in progress' which means they need to verify something about your claim. Check your my.ny.gov account for any messages or documents they might need from you.

adjudication usually means they're investigating something about your separation from work or eligibility. Could be anything from verifying your last employer info to checking if you quit vs got laid off. The process can take 4-6 weeks easily

You need to call the NYS Department of Labor directly to find out what's holding up your claim. The automated system won't tell you specifics but a human agent can explain exactly what they're reviewing. Try calling first thing in the morning when they open at 8am for the best chance of getting through.

SAME THING happened to me!! Filed in December and didn't get my first payment until February. The whole system is a mess and they give you no information about what's going on. Just keep filing your weekly claims even if you're not getting paid yet because you can get backpay once it's approved.

•turned out they were waiting for my previous employer to respond to some verification request but nobody told me that. Only found out when I finally got through to an agent

keep filing those weekly claims! even if ur not getting paid yet you need to maintain ur claim or you'll lose everything
