UGH the whole system is so unpredictable!! I've had payments delayed for no reason at all, then other times they come early. NYS Department of Labor really needs to give us better communication about when to expect our money especially around holidays.
If you're having trouble getting answers about payment timing, I used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) to actually speak with someone at NYS Department of Labor about my deposit schedule. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Way easier than trying to call yourself and getting the busy signal.
same question here but for different reason - does anyone know if we still have to do our weekly claim on monday even though its memorial day?
Yes, you still need to file your weekly claim on Monday even though it's Memorial Day. The NYS Department of Labor online system runs 24/7 and doesn't shut down for holidays. Your claim window is still the same - you just log in and certify as usual. Missing your weekly certification could delay or stop your benefits, so definitely don't skip it!
UPDATE: I finally received my payment! It took 13 business days total from when I completed the DocuSign. No notification or anything, it just appeared in my account this morning. For anyone else waiting, it seems like 2-3 weeks is the normal timeframe. Thanks everyone for your help and advice!
Congratulations on getting your payment! This thread is really helpful for setting expectations. I'm in a similar situation - just submitted my DocuSign for the Tourism Recovery Fund yesterday and was wondering about timing. Based on everyone's experiences here, it sounds like I should expect 2-3 weeks. The tax withholding info is also good to know since I was budgeting for the full amount. Thanks for updating us with your final timeline!
Check the my.ny.gov site - there should be a notice if offices are closed today. But definitely file that appeal online ASAP since you're cutting it close on the deadline!
I went through a similar situation last year when I was laid off. The online appeal system through my.ny.gov is definitely your best bet - it's available 24/7 and you'll get an email confirmation once it's submitted. Make sure to clearly explain in your appeal that you were laid off due to company downsizing, not a voluntary quit. Include any documentation you have like your termination letter, layoff notice, or emails from HR. The key is being very specific about the circumstances. Don't panic - as long as you submit it before the deadline tomorrow, you should be fine. The system timestamps everything so they'll know it was filed on time.
Just a heads up - make sure you apply as soon as possible because there's a waiting week before you can start receiving benefits. Also you'll need to file weekly claims every week even if your initial application is still being processed. The NYS Department of Labor website has all the instructions but it can be confusing at first.
I went through this process about 6 months ago when I was laid off. One thing I wish someone had told me is to take screenshots of your confirmation pages after you submit everything - the system can be glitchy sometimes and it's good to have proof you filed on time. Also, if you worked for multiple employers in the past 18 months, gather all that info before you start because the application will time out if you take too long looking things up. Good luck with your application!

Hey OP, don't stress too much. I was super nervous too but the agent I talked to was actually really nice and walked me through everything. You got this!

Just wanted to add - if you get disconnected during the call (which happens sometimes), don't panic! You can call back and they'll be able to see that you already started the process. Also, they might put you on a brief hold while they input information, so don't hang up thinking the call dropped. The whole process took me about 45 minutes when I filed. You're going to do great!

•This is so reassuring to hear! I was worried that if something went wrong during the call I'd have to start all over again. 45 minutes doesn't sound too bad either - I was expecting it to take way longer. Thanks for sharing your experience!
