Why Is My 2023 IRS Transcript Showing $0.00 Income In All Fields When I Made Over $45,000 Through Self-Employment?
I just checked my transcript and noticed my taxable income shows exactly $0.00 this year, with my Adjusted Gross Income also showing $0.00. I'm filing as Head of Household with 2 exemptions, but last year it had a large amount. Here's what my transcript shows: EXEMPTIONS: 02 FILING STATUS: Head of Household ADJUSTED GROSS INCOME: $0.00 TAXABLE INCOME: $0.00 TAXPAYER INCOME: $0.00 SE TAXABLE INCOME: $0.00 SPOUSE: $0.00 Even my SE taxable income is showing $0.00, and spouse's income is listed as $0.00 as well. I'm really concerned because every single income field is showing zeros across the board - taxpayer income $0.00, spouse $0.00. This is definitely not right. Last year my transcript showed over $45,000 in income, and I made even more this year through my self-employment. I've already filed and was expecting a refund based on my earnings and withholdings. Anyone else seeing this kind of situation with completely zeroed out income fields? What could this mean for my return? Could this be some kind of IRS glitch or processing error? Should I call the IRS about this or wait to see if it updates? I'm worried this might delay my refund or trigger some kind of audit.

The transcript shows your tax profile with Head of Household filing status and 2 exemptions claimed, but every income field is displaying $0.00 - including your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI), taxable income, self-employment income, and spouse's income. This complete absence of income figures is unusual, particularly if you had reportable income during the tax year. Zero values across all income fields typically suggest one of three scenarios: 1. The transcript hasn't been fully updated with your income data yet due to IRS processing delays 2. There may be an issue with how your income was reported or processed 3. The system may be experiencing a technical display error Given that you had significant income last year, this is likely a processing or display issue rather than an accurate reflection of your tax situation. I'd recommend: - Comparing these numbers to your filed tax return - Checking if you have access to your wage and income transcript - Contacting the IRS directly if the zeroes persist, as this could indicate a processing problem that needs attention

•Yep, sounds like its still processing. The transcript updates weekly, usually overnight on Thursdays.

Hey guys, instead of playing detective with these transcripts, I started using taxr.ai and it's been a game changer. It costs $1 but it analyzes everything and tells you exactly what's happening with your refund and when to expect it. Way better than guessing! https://taxr.ai

Same thing happened to me last year! All zeros across the board even though I had W2 income. Turns out the IRS was just behind on processing - took about 3-4 weeks for my transcript to update with the actual numbers. Since you mentioned self-employment income, make sure all your 1099s were filed correctly by your clients. Sometimes if there's a mismatch between what you reported and what was filed, it can cause processing delays. Don't panic yet, but definitely keep an eye on it and maybe call if it doesn't update in the next couple weeks.

•This is really helpful to know! I'm also self-employed so the 1099 mismatch thing makes sense. How do you check if your clients filed their 1099s correctly? Is there a way to see that on the IRS website or do you have to call them?
