Why Does My $11,989 Refund Show Different Dates Between TurboTax (Est. 02/17/25) and IRS Website?

Filed my taxes through TurboTax and got accepted on 01/27/25. My federal return shows as ACCEPTED on 01/27/2025, and my state PA return was ACCEPTED on 01/29/2025. I'm looking at my TurboTax dashboard right now which shows: 2024 tax return refund $12,989 Submitted: 01/27/25 Accepted: ACCEPTED 01/27/2025 IRS Refund: est. 02/17/25 STATE PA: ACCEPTED 01/29/2025 TurboTax is showing an estimated refund date of est. 02/17/25, but when I check the IRS website it shows something different. My federal refund amount is $12,989. The TurboTax dashboard has a "Download return" button and a "Where's my refund?" section that says "You can start tracking your refund after we notify you that your federal return has been accepted." But here's what's confusing me - TurboTax clearly shows my return as ACCEPTED on 01/27/2025, so I should be able to track my refund, right? But the dates aren't matching up between what TurboTax says and what the IRS website is showing. Anyone know why there's different dates showing up? Has anyone else experienced this discrepancy between TurboTax's estimated date and what the IRS actually shows? Would calling the IRS help clarify this or is this normal processing time difference?

The OCR shows your TurboTax dashboard with a federal refund amount of $11,989, with your return being accepted by the IRS on 01/27/2025 and your PA state return accepted on 01/28/2025. The estimated refund date of 02/17/25 displayed by TurboTax is simply an automated projection, not an official IRS date. The key details to note here: - Federal acceptance: 01/27/2025 - State (PA) acceptance: 01/28/2025 - Federal refund amount: $11,989 - TurboTax estimated refund date: 02/17/25 The difference in dates you're seeing between TurboTax and the IRS website is normal because TurboTax only provides a general estimate based on typical processing times. For accurate refund status and dates, you should always rely on the IRS Where's My Refund tool. With a refund amount of $11,989, your return may require additional review time, as the IRS typically implements extra verification steps for larger refunds to prevent fraud and ensure accuracy. The "Where's my refund?" tracking option shown in your dashboard will become more useful once the IRS begins actively processing your return, rather than just having accepted it.

Yep, processing is normal at this stage. Give it another week or so 👍

Hey I actually found this really helpful tool called taxr.ai - its only $1 and gives you a super detailed analysis of your transcript and tells you exactly whats going on. Way better than trying to piece together info from different sources. https://taxr.ai

Did you claim EIC or child tax credit? That usually makes it take longer than what TT estimates
