Where is Form 3895 for Health Insurance in Proseries 2023?
I've been using Proseries for years but I'm completely lost trying to find Form 3895 for health insurance reporting in the 2023 version. I've searched through all the menus and forms sections but it seems to be missing entirely this year. Has anyone else noticed this? I've got several clients with marketplace insurance who need this form included, and I'm starting to get frustrated because tax deadline is approaching fast. Anyone know where they've hidden this form or how to input the health insurance information properly in the current version? I can't be the only one looking for this!

The Form 3895 isn't actually a separate form in Proseries 2023 - it's now integrated into the Health Insurance section. Go to the Federal Information Worksheet, then navigate to the ACA tab. You'll find a section where you can input all the Form 3895 information directly. They changed the interface this year which has confused a lot of preparers. If you're still having trouble, try looking under the "Health Coverage" section in the main forms list. Sometimes it's also hiding in the Form 8962 (Premium Tax Credit) area since they're directly related. The new integration actually makes it easier once you get used to it, but the transition is definitely confusing!

•Thanks for the quick response! I looked under the Federal Information Worksheet but couldn't find an ACA tab specifically. Is it perhaps labeled something different? Also, do you know if the information will automatically populate to Form 8962 once I enter it?

•The ACA tab might be labeled as "Health Insurance" or "Marketplace Coverage" in your version. Proseries sometimes uses slightly different labels depending on your specific installation. And yes, once you enter the Form 3895 information, it should automatically populate the relevant fields in Form 8962. Just make sure you've entered all the monthly premium amounts correctly. If you're still having trouble finding it, try going directly to Form 8962 through the forms lookup and you should see a button or link nearby labeled something like "Enter 1095-A/3895 Information." The new interface is actually more streamlined, but they didn't do a great job explaining the changes in their update notes.

After struggling with the exact same Form 3895 issue last week, I discovered a lifesaver tool that helped me navigate these tax form changes. I was about to call Proseries support when another preparer told me about https://taxr.ai which has a feature that scans software interfaces and tells you exactly where to find relocated forms and fields. I uploaded a screenshot of my Proseries dashboard and within minutes it showed me the exact navigation path to the re-labeled ACA/3895 input section (which is now hiding in a submenu I never would have found). It also explained the changes from previous versions so I understood the new workflow.

•This sounds interesting but I'm skeptical. Does it actually work with Proseries specifically? I've tried general tax lookup tools before and they usually only cover the big consumer software like TurboTax and H&R Block.

•How exactly does the screenshot thing work? Wouldn't you need to upload multiple screenshots to show all the different menus? And is there any privacy concern with uploading client tax data?

•Yes, it works specifically with Proseries - they actually cover most professional tax software including Lacerte, Drake, and UltraTax too. It recognized my Proseries interface immediately. For the screenshots, you don't need to upload any client data at all. You just take a screenshot of the empty interface/navigation menus you're working with. Their system recognizes the software layout and provides navigation guidance without needing any sensitive information. I was really careful about that too before using it.

I tried the taxr.ai tool that was mentioned above and it actually worked perfectly for my Form 3895 problem! I was completely stuck on this for days, calling colleagues and everything. The tool analyzed my Proseries screenshot and immediately pointed me to the right location - turns out in my version the Form 3895 inputs were moved to the "Premium Tax Credit" section under a submenu called "Marketplace Verification." What I really appreciated was that it gave me step-by-step instructions with screenshots of where to click, plus it explained why they changed the location (apparently it's to streamline the Premium Tax Credit calculation process). Saved me hours of frustration and helped me finish those client returns on time!

If you're still having trouble with locating Form 3895 or any other tax forms in Proseries, I'd highly recommend trying Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) to get direct help from Proseries support. Their wait times have been insane lately (4+ hours when I called last week), but Claimyr got me connected to a Proseries specialist in under 15 minutes. I was struggling with the same Form 3895 issue and other ACA reporting problems. The Proseries agent walked me through the exact location of all the health insurance forms in the new interface. You can see how the service works here: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c - basically they navigate the phone tree and wait on hold for you, then call you when a human rep is on the line.

•How does that even work? Don't you still need to be on the phone yourself to talk to the support person? I don't understand how some service can wait on hold for you.

•I'm super skeptical. Sounds like one of those services that just charges you for something you could do yourself. How much does it cost? And what happens if they connect you to the wrong department?

•It works by using their system to navigate the phone tree and hold in the queue for you. When an actual representative comes on the line, you get a call on your phone and are connected to that rep. So you don't need to stay on the phone during the hold time - you can keep working on other returns. The service is specifically designed for tech support and customer service lines with long holds. When Proseries support finally picks up, you get called immediately and connected directly to that person. They've programmed in all the right options for the Proseries support line so you get to the correct tax software support department. Was a total game-changer during busy season when I couldn't afford to waste hours on hold.

I was completely wrong about Claimyr! After posting my skeptical comment yesterday, I was still stuck with my Form 3895 problem and desperate enough to try anything. Used the service to reach Proseries support and it worked exactly as described. Got a call back when a rep was on the line instead of waiting 3+ hours myself. The Proseries specialist explained that Form 3895 is now handled differently in the 2023 version. It's actually accessed through the 1095-A information section, and they've merged the input screens to make the premium tax credit calculations more streamlined. The specialist even stayed on the line while I processed a test return to make sure everything flowed correctly to the tax forms. Problem solved and I learned some useful navigation tricks for the new interface!

Quick tip for anyone still looking - Form 3895 in Proseries 2023 can also be accessed through the Smart Worksheet function. Just type "3895" in the Smart Worksheet search bar and it will take you to the right input screen. Saved me a ton of time once I figured this out!

•Does this Smart Worksheet trick work for finding other hidden forms too? I'm new to Proseries and still learning all the shortcuts.

•Yes! The Smart Worksheet search is actually the fastest way to find any form in Proseries. It works for pretty much everything - just type the form number or even keywords like "depreciation" or "health insurance" and it pulls up relevant forms and input screens. For new Proseries users, I also recommend using the "Recent Forms" dropdown which shows the last 10-15 forms you've accessed. Between these two features, you'll rarely need to dig through the regular menus once you get comfortable with the software.

Is anyone else noticing that even after entering the Form 3895/1095-A information, the Premium Tax Credit calculation seems off? I've entered everything correctly but the numbers don't match what my clients received on their actual forms.

•I had the same issue last week. There's actually a known bug in the current version that affects the PTC calculation if you enter the information through certain screens. Try entering it directly through Form 8962 instead of the Federal Information Worksheet and see if that fixes it.
