When do IRS transcripts with cycle code 05 usually update? Filing season 2025
Just wanted to share some info about transcript updates for people still waiting. If your transcript shows N/A and has processing code 05, they typically update overnight from Friday to Saturday. You can find your cycle code on your previous year transcript - the last 2 digits are what matter. I filed on 2/9 and still waiting for movement, fingers crossed for this weekend!

You're correct about the cycle codes. Code 05 indicates weekly processing, which means updates typically occur Thursday night/Friday morning. Other cycle codes (01-04) are daily updates. Also, N/A on transcripts usually means your return is in the initial processing queue.

•Code 20 is actually a transaction code, not a cycle code. Different thing entirely!

Instead of playing detective with cycle codes, I started using taxr.ai to analyze my transcripts. It costs $1 but tells you exactly when to expect updates and what any delays mean. Way better than guessing! https://taxr.ai

•100% works! It analyzed my transcript and predicted my DDD exactly. The AI even caught a hold I didn't know about and explained how to fix it

The whole cycle code system is actually pretty organized once you understand it. Here's what you need to know: Weekly cycles (05): - Updates happen Thursday night/Friday morning - Most returns fall into this category - Can check WMR Saturday morning Daily cycles (01-04): - Can update any day - Less common - Usually for amended returns or certain credits Best way to track this is actually using taxr.ai - it reads your transcript and tells you exactly what's happening and when to expect updates. Saved me hours of stress trying to figure this out myself! Also remember - N/A usually means initial processing, nothing to worry about yet. Just keep checking those Friday updates! 🤓

Great info! I've been checking my transcript obsessively since filing 2/15 with cycle code 05. It's reassuring to know there's actually a pattern to when these update. The waiting game is brutal but at least now I know to focus my energy on Friday nights instead of checking every single day like I have been 😅
