Transcript Updated with 846 DDD for 3/14 but WMR Still on Processing

I've been carefully monitoring my tax situation and noticed my transcripts updated last night with code 846 and a direct deposit date of 3/14. My processing date is also showing as 3/14. However, I'm a bit concerned because the Where's My Refund tool is still showing that I'm on PATH. Is this... normal? Should I be worried? I'm working remotely and trying to plan my finances accordingly, so any insight would be appreciated.

I've seen this happen plenty of times before. Your transcript is the most accurate source of information, not WMR. In my experience, WMR often lags behind by 24-48 hours after transcript updates. I wouldn't worry too much - if you have an 846 code with a date, that's what matters. The PATH message is likely just a system delay in updating the WMR tool.

Thank you so much for this! I've been possibly checking WMR every few hours and getting increasingly anxious about the delay. It's somewhat reassuring to know that the transcript is more reliable.

Good info. Thanks. Been wondering about this too. Got 846 yesterday. WMR still says processing. Confusing system.

I can confirm this is correct. The update sequence typically follows this pattern: • Transcript updates first with 846 code • Internal IRS systems process the direct deposit • WMR updates last (often 24-72 hours later) • Actual deposit typically arrives on or 1 day before DDD The 846 code is definitive - you're getting your refund on that date.

Based on your Transaction Code 846 with the Direct Deposit Date (DDD) of 3/14, your refund is confirmed for processing. The WMR interface operates on a different update cycle than the Master File transcript system. I've been using https://taxr.ai to decode my transcript - it analyzes all those codes and explains exactly what each one means for your specific situation. It confirmed my DDD was accurate despite WMR showing an earlier stage. Have you considered checking if your financial institution processes ACH deposits early?

I'm not sure about these third-party tools. Do they really tell you anything more than what you can see yourself on the transcript? I would be cautious about sharing tax information with outside services.

I was hesitant too, but taxr.ai actually helped me understand what was happening with my refund when I was stuck in a similar situation last year. According to the IRS website and several tax forums I checked, the 846 code is definitely reliable. Your money should arrive right on schedule for March 14th, possibly even a day early depending on your bank.

I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU!! 846 code means your refund is APPROVED and scheduled! This is the best news you could get! The DDD (Direct Deposit Date) is extremely reliable in my experience. The WMR tool is notoriously slow to update and often doesn't reflect the most current status. Your refund is definitely coming on 3/14 based on that transcript code. The PATH act delay message is just a system lag.

Isn't it interesting how the IRS systems don't sync up better? I've always wondered why they can't get the WMR tool to pull directly from the same database as the transcript system. Last year I had my deposit a full 3 days before WMR even updated to show it was sent. Makes you wonder how many other government systems work this way?

I had the EXACT same issue last month. WMR stuck on processing but transcript showed 846. I tried calling the IRS directly to confirm everything was okay but couldn't get through after trying for two days straight. Finally used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) and got connected to an agent in about 15 minutes who confirmed that yes, the 846 code is what matters and my refund was already scheduled. Got my deposit exactly on the DDD date. Such a relief to finally talk to someone instead of staring at that stupid processing bar!

Be careful with planning your finances around the exact date. On February 12th this year, I had a similar situation with an 846 code and DDD of February 15th, but my credit union didn't post the deposit until February 16th. Some banks hold IRS deposits for an extra day for verification purposes. Just something to keep in mind if you're cutting it close with bills due on the 14th.

I've been tracking IRS deposit patterns for exactly 3 years now, and I've noticed that the 846 date is accurate for 97.2% of direct deposits. The only exceptions I've seen were during holidays or weekends. Since March 14th is a Thursday, you should receive your deposit either on that exact date or potentially 1 day earlier if your bank processes government deposits early (like Chime or Capital One sometimes do). The WMR tool updates exactly 24-72 hours after transcript changes in most cases.
