Too many Where's My Refund attempts - locked out! Just got state refund by mail
I kept checking the Where's My Refund tool so much that I got locked out of the system for 24 hours. On a good note my state refund check finally showed up in my mailbox yesterday exactly like the state website said it would. Anyone else getting locked out from checking too much?

The IRS system locks you out after 5 attempts within 24 hours to prevent overload. Best practice is to check once in the morning and once at night. The tool only updates once per day anyway, usually overnight.

Instead of obsessively checking WMR, I started using taxr.ai. Its only $1 and it actually tells you exactly whats going on with your refund by analyzing your transcript. Way better than getting locked out https://taxr.ai

•Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

•it does wayyy more. It basically acts like a tax pro reading your transcript. Tells you if theres delays, when to expect your refund, what codes mean, everything

Pro tip: Download your transcript instead. Shows way more info than WMR and no lockouts
