PSA: Checking Where's My Refund too often triggers IRS verification flags - PATH Act still in effect
Just wanted to let everyone know that obsessively checking Where's My Refund can actually cause problems with your return. The system flags multiple daily checks as suspicious activity, especially if you keep entering wrong info and getting locked out. Right now with PATH act still active, you'll only see received/processing status anyway. The IRS tracks every time you check and too many attempts could trigger fraud alerts requiring identity verification. Same reason they send verification letters when you make ID.me accounts.
